This has been brought up before on the board, but I guess I finally got my shit talk from the po-po.

Monday night around 11:30 I was getting gas after work at the Shell gas station across from Quaker Steak an Lube, at Concord Mills.... Walked out with a gallon of milk and truck trader when a Concord Police pulled in behind my truck at the pump with his blue lights on and then proceeded to ask me how the hell I though my truck was legal, and basically just push every button he could push with me just standing there taking it all.

The b.s. laws he said I was breaking

-Tires can't stick out more than 4" on pass. side, and 0" on drivers side.

-Center of head lights have to be < 42" off ground/same with tail lights

-Greater than 6" of lift

I then asked about the 6" law, and that I understood that it was inteded for cars and non-4x4 vehicles, but a truck that was used for off-road use and was a factory 4x4 was clear....this just pissed him off more and he started rambling about if I got rear-ended and someone died that I would be held responsible because my truck was jacked up, even though I was rear-ended, and the same with someone passing me and hitting my tires, i would be held responsible for fixing thier car.... What THE F**k, seriously

edit**
I can understand a cop giving me, or somebody with a 4x4 truck a hard time if I had been acting stupid, driving careless, or just bullshitting around starting trouble.... but for gods sake i was in my damn work uniform and it was clearly visible i was tired and had just left freaking work...now i see why some people have abs. NO respect for cops

The truck I was driving was just a toyota with 38's... about as high as a stock 4x4 super duty, or dodge cummins

So did ya get any tickets?

if not then that is proof that he was just being an ASS.. best bet is to sit there and just say OK, wait till he is done and leave.. especially if he is not writting you a ticket..

Should have backed into his cop car with your hitch and then drove off!!! haha J/k

f*** cops, seriously go arrest the crackheads that robbed my buddies lot. The reason they bother people like us is purely financial, that and they know we are not likely to shoot them if we get pulled over.

Perfect example, some stuff got stolen off my cars recently, called the cops, fat ass white cop comes up, and gives me the "you can fill out a report, but we can't spend our time looking for hubcaps and stereos speech" I'm sure he has time to stuff his fat f****** mouth with donuts and pull me over and give me a f****** seatbelt ticket.

Sorry I am sure there are a few cool cops that go out and try to stop "real" crime, but most of the traffic jockies are dicks with an inferiority complex.

OK I'm done now:beer:

No he didn't write me a ticket for anything, and yes I just pretty much stood there and took it... I have never in my life wanted to rip someones head off so bad, I NEVER get mad, and have a very long fuse.... and now I can see how some people just can't take it and get arrested for basically nothing.

on top of all that, i had been fking working all day, and was just ready to go home and crash... i kept just saying to myself this CAN'T be happening right now...

OH OH, and I almost forgot... I was carrying my glock 21 (45) and I just let him know as soon as he walked up, cause GOD knows if he had just happened to see it without my concealed carry permit on hand he would have raped me a good one....., and OF COURSE that fuker took it and run the numbers on it like i was some damn criminal...

After informing the cop I have a concealed carry permit and that I am carrying I get to the point and just ask them up front if they are going to give me a ticket and if not I just tell them we have nothing else to talk about. :flipoff2: You ask has this helped to get me tickets? YES but I'm usually guilty anyway so I deserve one. Either way I let them know I was raised by a father that gave me speeches all the time about right and wrong and I don't need one from him.:fuck-you:I just don't have the time to waste on them. Just give me my ticket and I will go on my way. By the way it is law to inform a cop of your gun and permit. Is not an intimidation tactic. I wrote this post w/o seeing your last post about the gun till now.

Write a letter to the department. Be truthful and factual, tell it just like it happened. The first line of the letter needs to say something along the lines of you want a copy of the letter recorded in this officer's personnel file. They have to do that. That way his attitude will haunt him every time that he's up for promotion, etc.

This was my discussion with the last cop when I had no doors, top on. "You find the statute, write the ticket and my lawyer can make you look like a dipshit in front of a judge. Or leave me the fuck alone and I will take my happy ass down the road knowing full well you cant do a damn thing. Deal?"

I wonder if it's the same guy that pulled me over at the track last night. I was leaving the Summer Shootout race and hadn't even got on the highway. He bluelights me in the parkinglot. He starts talking all this crap about my tires being non DOT approved(they are Nitto Mud Grapplers), told me my 8" KC lights were illegal(they were not on, only use them off road), no doors with my 8 year old in the middle of the back seat(buckled into a booster seat), he says that my bumpers are dangerous to others, same story about being rearended....

I let him talk for about 10 minutes, I finally asked him if he was going to give me a ticket. That really made him mad. He said he should give me one, about that time a state patrol officer pulled up and joined in the fun.

The state patrol officer was really courteous and explained that my Jeep was perfectly legal(07 JK on 35" with 3.25" lift). He even apologized to me for the incident. Said he was a Jeeper and asked about the JK's offroad ability.

Cops take a lot of flak from the low-lifes out there so maybe you should just let this pass but he was definitely out of line.

Yeah the cop told me it would have been bad if a State Trooper pulled me over, I thought to myself... umm NO cause they are out there actually pulling people over for a decent reason, State Troopers don't just waste time in a gas station parking lot, thas why they drive Dodge Chargers and not freaking lumina's... haha

And that's where I would have said "no thanks, here's my CCW permit though. Either write me a ticket, let me leave, or excuse me while I call my legal council"
Especially if I had already been having a shitty day to begin with.

:edit: And here is ch 20 of the NC gen statutes that pertains to autos that contains the actual standards for lighting, lifts and such. There is a lot of mis-info around in general...the police are people too and either can't remember every statute or just don't know but go by the general consensus (that is often wrong).

Here is the one that pertains to his 6" lift rant.

§ 20‑135.4. Certain automobile safety standards.
(a) Definitions. – For the purposes of this section, the term "private passenger automobile" shall mean a four‑wheeled motor vehicle designed principally for carrying passengers, for use on public roads and highways, except a multipurpose passenger vehicle which is constructed either on a truck chassis or with special features for occasional off‑road operation.
(b), (c) Repealed by Session Laws 1975, c. 856.
(d) The manufacturer's specified height of any passenger motor vehicle shall not be elevated or lowered, either in front or back, more than six inches by modification, alteration, or change of the physical structure of said vehicle without prior written approval of the Commissioner of Motor Vehicles.
On or after January 1, 1975, no self‑propelled passenger vehicle that has been so altered, modified or changed shall be operated upon any highway or public vehicular area without the prior written approval of the Commissioner. (1971, c. 485; 1973, cc. 58, 1082; 1975, c. 856.)

The part he was failing to mention was the

Next time if you really want to piss him off, have any pertaining statutes printed off and point out his "mistakes". And good luck.:flipoff2:

I think anyone who has any type of setup for off roading should just keep a copy in the car so as soon as they start, pull it out and hand it to them and ask if something has changed

Concord cop are just over paid mall cops. They think because the have a badge and a gun they can push people around. They are all real bad around the mall. If everyone around here would stop going over there may be they close that mall like their doing to Eastland. And one of them give you shit make sure you get his name, badge number and car number; then call or go downtown and report them that's the only way to fight them my using their system to control them.

Those and the gypsy cops that float from department to department and one county to the next. Gypsy cops are a direct result of the management of law enforcement agencies failing to do the right thing with the bad cops in their ranks.
