XJ Question

Took off my son’s front bumper and installed a tube bumper and behind the bumper on the passenger side is this black plastic canister. This canister has 2 vacuum hose going in and 2 coming out. What is this and do I need it?

Its a vacuum reservoir, I assumed its needed. When I put a tube bumper on, I relocated that ball above the passenger side wheel, bent the existing lines to reroute.
 
I guess this why i only have defrosters and no floor heat.

Correct! I had to learn that the hard way when the PO of my XJ just put an aftermarket bumper on and left the lines unplugged. Also no cruise control.
