how about we place the burden of proof on you then. why didn't they choose a toyota or suzuki then? tell me it's advantages over the Hummer in stock form.
OK ok ok hold on a second here.
First of all lets be clear about something.
The US military has never bought a "hummer". (well I'm sure they've paid for them but that's different
)
Military vehicle is a HMMWV. Or at best "Humvee".
"Hummer" is the name of a completely different vehicle sold in civilian form made by a different company. And these days 95% of the time here people think of an H2 as "Hummer".
But even then the H1s that are (well, were) civilian purchase-able are not the same vehicle the US Army uses.
So you can just give up on that.
OK now that that's behind us - you're talking about an apples to oranges comparison.
Sure the military Humvees are brutes. They have portals, come standard w/ re-inflatable tires, weigh anywhere between 5 and 12,000 lbs, come w/ any amount of armor... and are 6+ feet wide. Oh and cost what? 3-5X the price of any civilian truck?
Even then... take one on a nice narrow URE trail, or any of many East Coast tight tree-ridden trails. Good luck w/ that.
Please show me a video of ANY Humvee going right up Kodak. That's not even a "tight trail".
Yeah they're stout - but not made for trail riding, that's for sure.
Your comparison of Hummers "must be awesome b/c they use IFS like Campbell and others" - seriously?
The IFS system on those trucks is *nothing* like on the high dollar buggies.
That's pretty much like saying I must be in the same brilliance class as Einstein b/c we both worked for the US DoD.
Why didn't the US Military use stock Toyotas or Suzukis? How about - b/c those vehicle weren't DESIGNED FOR MILITARY USE.. The Humvee WAS.
