At the expo there was over a thousand people in attendance. They raffled off $160,000 in merchandise to include 13 sets of tires and ten winches. However, tickets were $50.00 a piece. I didn't win anything, but Jason won a spare tire rack which he already traded.
 
Everyone needs to take a trip out west like this. There are so many beautiful things to see and lots of great things to do. I'm glad you all had the opportunity to do this. I've been to most the places you have posted pictures of and it really makes me want to go back.
As a Trailblazer I want to thank both of you for representing the club.
I hope the rest of your trip goes well.
 
We are in Asheville now. Still a while until home, but I can't wait! We ran into this guy again outside of Nashville.

I have a question for you guys. Yall went both way's I've looked at going out there. It looks like the I-40 way appears to be an hour and 67 miles longer but it looks ALOT easier. What was your favorite way and why?

WOW! I am home, and tired, and still soaking up the whole experience. I have a ton of pics and video and will work on it a little everyday, It has truly been a trip of a lifetime, we got to see every type of terrain all across the nation, made new freinds and wheeled at angles I never dreamed possible. Thanks to everyone for all youre support. I am allready planning a trip next spring!!

WHICH ROUTE I 40 all the way to albequrqe, It is way flatter, gas is cheaper. For the scenery Id say I75 through colorado, although what we mostly seen was snow at the time.

If you have that thought in the back of youre mind that you want to make the Moab trip, DO IT!!! I can not say enough of how wonderfull the whole trip is, It is absolutely some of , or the best wheeling in the world, If you have a way to go do it I urge you to do so!

As far as route goes, it just depends on what you want. If you just want an easy drive with fewer big cities take 40. It is also flatter with better gas mileage. If you want a slightly faster route with great scenery take 70. However it takes you through Kansas city which is a pain.I personally would take 70 if not towing. If I was towing I would seriously consider 40. There is just much less to see going that way, in fact it's plain boring that way.

Both. Scenery on I-70 is better, but you've got to go through St Louis, Kansas City, and Denver. There's nothing like the first sight of the mountains from eastern Colorado, though. And yeah, those are some big hills... but it's must-see stuff.

The I-40 way is desolate. I remember one time, we figured we'd get something to eat once we hit the west side of ABQ. Forgot that there's *absolutely nothing* on 550 for about 100 miles. We ended up getting microwave burritos at some little gas station on a reservation. Best burrito I've ever had. :lol: The people that complain about how desolate Kansas is have probably never driven through the TX panhandle or northwestern NM.

But weather plays a big factor, too. We left out of Oklahoma one morning heading west into stiff headwinds. Couldn't manage but about 55mph for half the day. That sucked.

We also swung north and came home I-80 one time through Nebraska. Can't recommend that one. Cattle processing plants for a couple hundred miles. But Iowa was pretty.

I'm sure EJS would be fun... but my recommendation is still to wait until late summer/early fall. Plan on the first of September, give or take a few weeks. The weather in Moab is nice, and the CO mountains should be well-thawed and wheelable, but not for long once you get into late September.
