Well my ship is doing a home port shift to the Jacksonville/mayport area so that's where I'm headed for about a year. What's there to do down there?
 
IMHO..... Jacksoville is a :poop:hole... St. Augustine (bout an hour south) has some great beaches

lol that's where I was born ,I have several cousins there.

If you are interested in beaches..JAX beach is just ok. Go up to Fernindina Beach on Amelia Island for smaller crowds. I know you can drive(or used to) on the beach at peters point at Fernindina and maybe you can still drive on the beach at the jeddies at Jax.

Lots of bars and entertainment with everything any big city has to do.
 
Look up matanzas jeep club. I was a member when i lived down there. Nice bunch of guys.

Ditto. I have a bunch of family in the area around Jax. Not a fan of the city at all. Any time I spend down there I usually try to hit up Fernandina/Amelia or St. Augustine. Both are well worth the drive IMHO in comparison to what Jax has to offer.
 
Its beaches arent great...but I LOVE the city.

there are some cool ass night spots on the river at The Landing. Including Bennys for a good steak.

Now if you are single..cruise south a bit. Go on past St Augustine and there are tons of little cool beach towns from there to Daytona...
 
x2 on the Landing. I saw Edwin Mcain there..oh yeah...get this, I spent about 15 minutes at Guar concert before I got the hell outa there.
 
I'm married but my wife is staying in Virginia we own a house there and that's where her duty station is my command is trying to transfer me back there. I'm just looking to make some friends and find some things to keep me occupied until I can get back to virginia!
