Harlan, KY August 20th

Will also be thier Friday evening, I am staying at the campground 1/4 mile up the road from pass cabin( right before zip line ), quite a few staying at the dairy hut campground. Let's hope for cool night time temps!!

Just a a reminder, we will meet at the little cabin where you buy your pass on the evarts side at 8:30, air down when you get there and be ready to roll. Let's get some good trails in before it gets super hot.

I'm out, expecting a delivery around that time.

I plan on being there Friday morning.

Anyone want to hit the trails after lunch on Friday? Have not decided where I want to camp yet. Probably stay where the majority of the group sets up.

Rail bed for sure. I haven't don't that yet!

Fish fossil if the hill climb at the end isn't wet.

Trails around middle rock garden?

Can the entire group do mason jar with all of the bypasses? I will need the bypass :)

From the videos I have seen recently, the exit out the top of rail bed has gotten pretty rough, if it is wet, plan for a lot of cable pulling.

I dont have a winch yet but hopefully wont need it.

If i do need a tug, I do have a good hookup point up front.

You're right though, when wet, it changes everything.
I'm remember Callalantee went from mild to stuck + spinning after a downpour.
if its anything like those days, gonna be fun.

I hate I can't go but I can almost assure y'all it will be wet. Their daily forecast is always rain.

I hope there is some rain :D Some relief from the heat would be nice.

OKay I'm burning the candle at both ends.
Went up to Oliver's and the driveshaft is great but the companion flange is for an earlier style Cruiser bolt pattern.
I've ordered a double drilled bolt pattern pinion flange and should arrive sometime this week. I'm swap my current one and bolt up the new driveshaft and head out on Friday.

Don't know what time I'm leaving yet but need some advice on the roads.
Anything above 60-65 is a no-go in my truck now until I can get a sway bar to counter the torque steer I get from the rear.
Uneven pavement from construction zones made my knuckles white while headed up to W-S last week.
If there are any squirrely spots on the hwy up to Evarts, yall let me know.

What time everyone leaving?
Caravan opportunity?

@Joe J. I think he knows a route other than what I usually go which is 40w to 26n to 421 to ky 38. I'm sure there is a quicker way from where you are.

When I drove from Greensboro I did 52 to 77 to 81 to 58 to 421. Relatively smooth road surface the entire way. Hold like 55-60 mph in the right lane and cruise. People passing me on the highway never bothers me and you never have to worry about speeding

If I take take the taco truck we could caravan. I'm sure I'll be slow.
I'm still not sure where I'm staying or anything. Had a house but other guy back out so may take the taco truck or sleep in a buddy's camper floor.
Still not sure if I'm heading up Thursday or friday.
I know of three coming from my area.

Looks like rain went from 90% to scattered in the morning and 60% to 40% at night.

@NickMaul I can see why you'd go 52, 77 81 to 421 from gso or ws.
Pretty straight and easy for hwy driving.
I kinda want to avoid the 70-80mph rigs if I can for now. Getting blown around in the wash sucks.

Was thinking, less stoplights and little more straighter as the crow flies.
Playing with the map, its kind of like going to Callalantee but further ;-)
was thinking: 77 to 421 to boone/mtn city, then 91 damascus 58 to I-81 , then 11w to 58 and 421
I think its about 5 hours no matter how you slice it. Mileage may go +/- 30 miles but eh.

Hoping to leave around lunch Friday if I can swing it.
PM me if anyone thinks we may cross paths on Friday.

You sure you wanna go that way?

I think you're talking about 421 over the mtn from mtn city.
I was thinking 91 north. Looked waaaay straighter.
I'm still open to advice. Shit I ain't driving the audi or that would be fun!!

check the map screenshot I uploaded and see if I'm still crazy

10-4....Yeah 421 to Shady then 133 to Damascus was what I feared you were thinking...that'd be insane in a wheeler or God forbid a tow rig and trailer

Doesn't matter which way you go if your not on the interstate it's going to be all curvy roads in that part of the country. I did the 77 to 21 in Elkin to 58 through Damascus and to 421 in Kentucky to Harlan. That was fun for my slow jeep but I sure wouldn't tow that way.
