The Hornet. 96 S-10 2wd to 4wd

Nic cleaning Pitbulls.jpg

Finally got my chance to upgrade to some larger tires. Picked these up from a guy on here. 37X12.50R15 Pitbull Rockers. Kids were more than willing to help the old man out.

I opted to ditch those stupid aluminum "bolt protectors" I had on the wheels originally. They did their job and no bolts were damaged, however, it took me almost 4 hours cussing with a screwdriver to get the bolts inside the aluminum out. At $30 per wheel to replace, I'll pass. Fresh coat of paint and some plain old stainless washers for that subtle BLING.

Looks meaner I think and the kids approve. Next week I'll get it inside and trim the rear corners of the front fenders to make them fit. I'm still waiting on my one new tire I bought to make a full set. One of this set had a repaired sidewall that will make a nice spare.

Those give it a good stance. They got my approval [emoji106]

I like it! ( Also, it's subtle :D )

Took this much off the rock rails. You can see where the 35’s were rubbing just on that top edge so I figured a different angle was in order.

Slight trim to the rear of the fender. Added a skin of 16 gauge to cover all the metal edges and give the tire something smooth to rub on.

Just shy of 3” clearance with the tires at the lock sitting at ride height.

One ton axles and an LS motor next?

Not this truck. I am gathering parts for the Scout though. I’d get farther if I stop spending money on the S10.

LOL!
Scout needs a blower motor and Rock axles...
Go big or go home.
Easy for me to say when it's not my money.

I too am proficient in helping other people spend money on their rigs!

I'v always been a big fan of this truck since HG started building it. I'm glad you bought it and are putting it to good use! Oddly enough, it's cool to see a capable rig that's not on tons with a big, powerful motor.

I’ll also note that @HGSR named this thing the Hornet because his Dad put a bullet hole in the door. While trimming the driver fender 3 empty shell casings rained out onto the shop floor. :sniper:

I’m a fan of the s10 after Dixie Run. Little truck does good.

If I get my cage installed this Spring, I can finally cut her loose. Lots more potential when I know I’m safe to roll.

Safelite put a brand new windshield in this morning in preps for that exocage. Stay tuned...

@Mallard56
This is all I've got that will upload on here. I'm usually shooting video of everyone else.

Camera guy sucks

I ain't complaining. That's proof I was there. I WILL be there again this fall with a cage, bigger tires, and hydro assist. Maybe even A/C.
