MOTD (Meme of the Day)

Hate to be a topper but I got one worse than that.

A co-worker has a new Audi. Somehow the battery died at only 6 months old. Whatever. Its a Saturday and while covered by warranty he doesnt want to be stuck at the office. Wants to drive home and let them deal with it Monday. Ok, Ill jump you off. Key fob doesnt work with dead battery. Use the key. Puts key in door and no joy. He looks confused. Hes a millennial and not exactly mechanically inclined. Here Ill help. Key in slot turn and....Mother of GOD the stupidity. It isnt a mechanical lock. You can instantly feel it. The key just turns an electroswitch that activates the power lock mechanism.

The solution ended up entailing removing a tire and an inner fender to get jumper cables onto the battery to open the door....or so Im told. I checked out before all that.
yep. a coworker has a couple year old Audi. Battery died. Late on a Friday, only a few of us around. He got the door open (somehow). No big deal, has cables in the trunk.
Then... oh, shit, the trunk is only electrically actuated. Can't get in from inside the trunk, can't get it open from outside.
Not sure what he solution was but there was a lot of head shaking.

Same young guy from my previous story got in my old Toy truck one day in summer. It was hot, my window was already down. I said, roll down the window, AC don't work.
He stared at the panel for a good 30 seconds, confused. "How? There's no switch?"
Smack my head. Use the fucking handle. (manual windows). He almost broke it off trying to pull on it like a door lever.
"Wow, I feel like I'm living in such an old time, moving a window this way."
I'm thinking, Jesus kid, I was in high school when this truck was made.

What dumb ass engineer came up with that idea. Engineer FAIL, LOL.

I had this same trunk issue with my GTO... Or so I thought.

It's got a button on the fob and an electronic release in the glove box. A few times I let it sit long enough for the battery to drain low enough to not even have enough juice to pop the trunk with the cables inside. At least once this required assistance calls to others.

About two months ago I was removing the rear seat (which had literally been sat in 3 times) to get the leather repaired. Behind the headrest there it was: a bright yellow trunk release handle.

I should have read the manual.

But don't you have to be inside the trunk to get to it?
Typically cars are designed with the trunk locked out so that you can't break into the trunk if you break into the main cabin.
The interior release is there so that somebody can't get locked INSIDE the trunk.

Doesn't your car have a stud under the hood to jump it with? Or is your battery not in the trunk? I know in my G8 I had this problem once, but I just hooked the jump box to the stud under the hood and was good to go.

No, this is in the passenger compartment. There is another glow in the dark handle in the truck. Not that any human with mental capacity developed enough to recognize that could fit in there.

Battery is under the hood.

Well...there's your problem

I seen it!!! these dipshits with their new audi's are racing all over cary/apex etc. They're the slowest/loudest cars I've ever seen when they pound them. I saw one get burned on cary parkway, dragging w another car from the light @ tryon and laughed my ass off. I've seen others that sound like they're floored and my stock 200k 98 S10 is faster.

The wife sent me this.

That's my wife's reaction any time I explain what's left to do on the jeep...how my day was at work...when I say anything more than "yes, dear..."

Is that a good thing that I recognize 90% of everything on that board from college maths?

I'd say so! I loves me some fizzicks...looks like my homework from most of my senior year at school.
