Guns drawn on Richland Rd

A friend took his wife for a ride across Richland yesterday for their anniversary and were confronted by some individuals claiming the road was private property. They never left the road but the individuals did pull their side arms and point then at my friend and his wife. A lot of screaming and cussing but that was the end of it. Be careful if your riding through.

If your friend is 100% sure he's in the right, a reach out to FS might be a good move but then again he could also be wasting his time.
I've been in a similar situation before where I was out boating by myself through the swamp wayyyyyy up a creek between hwy 601 and 378 around Manchester state Forest, a solid two hours by boat to/from either highway. These two arrogant assholes approached me guns drawn saying I was trespassing (on a public waterway), not even while in floodstage. They had theirs out before I could get to mine so I bowed out. I reported the incident to DNR and the officer came right out and said that even though I was in the right and there had been identical reports made before about it, there wasn't anything he could do and even shared a few names. Shoes too big to step on I guess.
Hope he has the best of luck and the situation gets resolved before someone gets killed.

Has this person reported to the local PD?

That’s when ya go back the next day with something that’ll reach out and touch someone and give their boat motor a love tap... lmao

If the locals feel that strong about it I’d just stay the hell away from there nothing goods going to come from going back

His first time, it was Cody. He just left it alone. I'll go up there when I feel like it and if I encounter trouble I'll deal with it in a legal manor. It is a state road, and brandishing a firearm is a felony. No different than stopping people on I77 and demanding they don't pass.

Let me know when you're ready. I'm you're huckleberry;)

They launched from a hunt club landing just outside of the state forest that's owned by the decendents of "The admiral" Judge Hill of the county I live in. Rumor has it they man drive deer out of season so their (they as in some very wealthy and crooked people) knowledge of the natural geography, the game cameras, and their recources to comb the land thorougly would be an immediate death sentence without proper burial unless you consider a warm Natty light poured over my dead body proper but I don't like cheap beer really. .. I'm not that vengeful. Also the fact they drew high powered rifles from a boat showed a disregard for law.
Plus, their boat motor didn't do anything to me, their attitude did.

Very valid points! Better solution make a game warden your buddy and have him on look out while you trek back into their area then roll up in that waterway like you own the bitch and toss a line out with warden posted up watching the ignorance go down!! :D In all seriousness tho if they pointed a firearm in your direction then I probably would have been shot that day bc that’s no game or intimidation tactic in my world and instincts I would have probably drawn and started firing high powered weapons or not that’s bs to be drawn on to scare someone from a area!

They already know me on a first name basis across Richland, Fairfield, Sumter and Kershaw counties. To them I'm young Mr Reed that always picks up trash when I see it, always has paddle/jacket/whistle on board and spends more time on the water than they do. Perhaps it's because of understaffing or maybe it's just them not caring, but their job is to generate funding for state by simply hanging out at boat landings and writing citations for anything they can. To take a 4 hr round trip boat ride down, up and through three River systems and several uncharted creeks strown across multiple counties with a boat and officers that aren't cut out to travel nearly as far as I can, just to write a warning ticket to a members of a hunt club that probably go golfing with their boss is laughable unfortunately. It's corrupt as hell.

I bet you money it's the same level of corruption going on at Richland Rd.

It'll be at least until after I catch who shot up my truck before I can devise a plan of action.

I get your stance on this. However its best to know when to bow out. I don't gamble, much less risk my life over a sudden test of my priciples. And like the swamp incident the world hasn't changed much evil men still do cowardly, sneaky evil things. Know your enemy and his numbers.
If it where to ever involve family the stakes go up, threatening another grown man is one thing full family is another. Pulling a firearm is just plain "yellow". I had similar event occur on the land I live on. My son and I where ridding and was threatened by hunters who payed good money to hunt.....their ignorant asses didn't know I was married in....they don't hunt anymore.
I've also ran off everything from people dumping trash, to target shooting of all things. Each time I made sure my approach and the deck was in my favor. I carried every time and I wasn't I pussy pointing firearms to get my point across. Its never simple.
The Richland Road thing seems like it's going esculate possibly. I would not go in any single party outings. Multiple vehicles and multiple media recording resources. If the person who got approached could go back, I'd purposely try to get footage or recorded admission of the threats or a similar situation. Then press charges. Get evidence and nail that a hole to the wall.

"I am a landowner and I'd like to see proof that you are" seems like it would resolve the situation. Any NC resident can truthfully make this statement if on the road at Richland road.

Its not against the law in NC to brandish a firearm. If you point it at somebody then its a crime of "Assault by pointing a gun." Its a misdemeanor.
"I feared for my life.
I fired until the threat stopped
I would like to speak to my attorney"

If I have to pull my weapon, I don't give 2 shits what the government calls it.

And it's not a show of force at that point. Which is exacy where your coming from.;)
I loathe the day I'd have to use my firearms for anything other then target or hunting.
Like a friend and veteran told some mouthy kids in a parking lot......killing any human for any reason is something you live with for the rest of your life.

This. Say or type what you want. Think a scenario over in your head 10, a 100, or 1,000 times and I can tell you that it doesn’t ever go that way and it doesn’t ever end the way you think it will after it’s said and done. Things you don’t think will stay with you.

Not the one in orange.

He is the dumbest of the bunch. Talking mad trash to two men with guns, then coming at them with a bat! FAIL.
