What have you done to your rig today?

Hooked up with The Jeep Crew out of Maryville TN today. We rode on some FS roads around Hartford TN. Nothing hardcore, but we definitely had a blast. Something like 58 Jeeps were on the ride.
Put nearly 260 miles on my DD/light wheeler XJ with no hiccups at all.
But I'm anxiously awaiting the next trip out in my Ranger for some throttle therapy.

Installed 4:88's in the front. Ordered the material for a antiwrap in the rear.
 
Finally got around to dropping in the SR5 gauge cluster I scooped up from @palmetto zuk.

vacuumed down and re charged the A/c tonight after a 4 mile walk/run.


Ordered a cylinder from poly performance for hydro assist. That locker and 35"s puts a lot on the unibody, I'll build a stiffener this weekend and pull the steering box and machine it to accept the fittings. This and the anti-wrap bar should finish up the suspension. I need a radio in this damn thing.
 
Got the 4runner running last night. Everything was going good until I found a small puddle of oil under the truck. Got to looking and it seems the oil pan has a hole in it somewhere around the built in skid plate. Guess I shouldn't have cleaned all the old paint and gunk off. New one is on the way.
 
Finished up my solid axle swap on my yota... first one I’ve ever done. Wasn’t a bad project. I did learn that “kits” are not always what they seem to be

Found out why my headlights go haywire intermittently. One of the wires broke loose from the switch and looses contact as the steering wheel and truck moves. Its the red one under the white with black tracer. Guess I'll pull it all apart and try to solder it up tomorrow after work.

Anybody know where I could pick up some solder wick locally. Used to get that stuff at radio shack but there isn't one around anymore.

I've actually got a similar problem w/ my headlights now. Only happens when I move the steering wheel up/down (tilt).

Hacked up my old spare front @Oliver's drive shaft and lengthened it for use as a spare rear. ( I already have a spare 1410 front)
Then I thought it was finally time to paint the latest rendition of my doors. I refuse to scrape off the junkyard grease marker paint however. Much like leaving the blue on your white wall tires, that's a sign of baller status.

I now have a fully functional headlight switch. Had to unsolder/desolder the white with black tracer above it first to gain access. All seems well.

I see you put it on the bitch side. I did too. That way he knows his place since he'll never have a drivable rig again.
 
And it runs again. No leaks and so far everything is good. I'm tired so it'll probably be Monday before I get it out of the shop and take it for a spin.

Feels good to have it done. Sorry for the constant updates but this thread helps me stay motivated to work on my junk.

Coax braid, or stranded copper wire with flux, or heat the joint and hit with air while molten(my preferred, but wear eye shielding). Probably too late to help.
 
Not wheeling rig but tow pig got some work done. I posted a picture a while back of my spring plates and u-bolts on the Ferd. Well, I finally took the time to replace them before they let loose going 70 down the highway with the Jeep in tow.

I think there's a pic of your rear axle on here somewhere. Folks mistook it for a tree limb

You can see where I cut the one bolt. When I cut it, it popped and chunks of metal went everywhere. That's the aftermath but shows you how weak it was.

Side note: I bought the truck from a llama farmer in Ohio so the salt has done its job.
