New piece to the puzzle showed up today.

The two past nights I was able to get more tube in and get the fuel cell mount installed.

Cage looks good, how many feet of DOM did it take you?

Around 120 feet. I have almost no waste which is nice. Any time a messed up on a bend or a notch, I was able to use it somewhere else.

You fit 120 ft of tubing in a samurai? That’s impressive I was really expecting to hear 80/90ft.

Looks at the seat mounts, double C-pillars, and other tubing running around the bottom rear tub inside.

This is all because no matter how much he says its just going to be something cool to cruise around, deep down he knows hes going to turn it into a crumpled beer can the first time he goes to Harlan.

I just bought a 2000 4Runner to cruise around in...so your probably right haha!

Belt tabs mounted and grab bars added. The windshield rests on the engine spreader bar by luck...totally planed for it..

Prefect day for a paint session outside.

This week so far I was able to put a few more coats of paint on the cage, set it in the tub, and mount the fuel cell. Before I bolt on the cage and fab up my frame tie ins, I want to work on the trans tunnel and pedal assemblies.

Mounted my gas pedal and started on the clutch pedal yesterday. I can’t remember if it was mentioned before, but they are Toyota pedals from the first gen pickup. Just reworking they to fit this tub.

Made a removable grab bar for the passenger side so I can still remove the dash.

I’m about to finally order some parts for this thing. 4 link rear is around the corner. The time to work on it is the question though. Working on the travel circuit brings samurai time to a halt.

I ordered some parts from Barnes4x4 last week. On Sunday I was able to get a little done in preparation for rear link mock up. Pulled the rear axle, cut out the leaf springs and the mounts. The rear has a hi pinion diff now as well.

Friday after work, I met Hunter @ProbablyBroke to pick up a rear IFS housing. Thanks again and it is always cool to meet new people from the forum!

So I am replacing my old housing due to old pitting/ rust. I had previously installed a Barnes cover on it and the welding was a PITA. This next phase of linking the rear, I want a better welding surface. Yesterday I got a moment in the shop to start getting the housing prepped. I took the cover off the old housing as well.

Still out of town with work. The linking process is going to be slower than I thought...

This weekend I did get time to install the diff cover and polish the axle. I was really frustrated with my welds. I was rushing through what little time I had and it showed. At least it doesn’t leak.

It is a Trail-Gear truss on top to catch the upper links. EDIT: The diff cover is a Barnes4x4 and I made the truss going from end to end.

Yesterday I was able to meet @untchabl on my job site. I had a transmission that I needed out of my way due to moving to a new house at the end of the month. Always great meeting new people on the forum.

This is really impressive to me. But I think it's almost half an ultra four car! I really dig it.

I just looked over the whole build. Didn't realize it was all toyota powertrain. What's the wheelbase , and how long is your rear driveshaft going to be?

Yep all Toyota. The wheelbase is going to be a minimum of 100”. The front is going to get pushed out when the rear is finished. The rear was mocked up with a stock Toyota front driveshaft when the rear was planned to be leaf sprung. I had an issue with the angle being too steep.

I have a lot to figure out coming up.
