Hurricane Creek

The entrance Is super tight for just a vehicle....not to mention swinging wide with a trailer

The first part of the trail is carved onto the side of the mountain with a steep drop to the creek.
No way in hell I'm talented enough to pull an offroad trailer behind a JEEP thru that section. But you may be super talented

I want to tow my jeep in on a trailer. Anywhere to park and camp close that is doable for my ram 2500 and 18 ft dovetail?
The last time I went to Hurricane Creek we camped in Hot Springs Friday and Saturday night. It's about an hour to get to the start of hurricane creek, but you end up closer to it if I remember correctly.

There's a truck stop a few miles up from the entrance that a few of us have parked tow rigs at for the day before. No clue on camping ideas.

Camp at Cataloochee, leave out the TN side, backtrack to Hurricane Creek, take that to Max Patch, hike to the top and back, back to Cataloochee for dinner.

Optional longer route: leave Max Patch on the TN side, loop back around to Hot Springs, then back to Cataloochee from there.

@tsconver

Cataloochee valley is probably your best bet if you are dead set on getting your tow rig to camp. Will your trail rig run 55 mph safely? I’m about 30 miles from the entrance to Hurricane Creek if you want somewhere to park tow rig depending on when you are planning to come up.

It is fully street legal and licensed. Just do not want to drive it 4.5 hours.

Why would you drive 4.5 hrs there? From everything I've seen 99% of it will be done in 2wd

I think he’s saying he doesn’t want to drive it to the trail head and would prefer to tow it there.

For such a mild trail, if my rig would do 70 for a while I’d rather drive it there.

You cannot get your tow rig and trailer in the trail. It is literally off the highway and there’s no room.

Part of the fun is doing something new. Plus it is about just hanging out with buddies around a fire in the evening as well.

can't like that statement enough times. I ask those same "why" questions everytime I see a rock bouncer/tube buggy, anything over a 35 inch tire rolling through the outpost heading to the trail heads of the good ole UNF paths.

You can camp off at Harmon den exit in the national forest they have a couple camping spots off the road or a horse camp. It’s a mile past the entrance of hurricane creek. You can get on the road in Harmon’s den and go to max patch go down hurricane, turn around and go back up it. Take gravel roads into delrio Tn , almost to Newport Tn, or hot springs and stay on gravel 99% of the way to any of them. You can also go to the 12 mile and then go mount sterling into cataloochee or hike to the fire towers on the 12 mile. The goat trail has been heavily graveled but is also an option.

Last Friday night we made a loop starting at 10:30, hurricane, max patch to Newport back to goat trail and had planned going over mount sterling but it was 4:30 am by then so we jumped back on the interstate and headed home.

@CasterTroy it hurts my soul you didn’t think about me
You SHOULD feel relieved. You're busy project managing and rubber dick removing. I tagged the fellers that have the free time (right now) to investigate leads and look for solutions to hard pressing matters that us "slaving for the man" cant really invest time into

Not true

If you head into Harmons den make a left at the bathhouse there is a camp spot on the right up the mountain that you can get a truck and trailer into. water is across the road via a small creek

well damn nick just given the keys to the oldy moldy trailer
I'm not gonna put that evil on him. I really hope to tear that shit down this coming year.
