Couple things. The temp delta test is designed to monitor under set parameters:
Unloaded, constant throttle, at 55-66 mph on the highway.
When you add the trailer and towing load you start to change the parameters. Now the engine is working harder and warming the oil more because the oil is doing its job. Plus if you dont know the oil age, or type there could be a couple factors there.

If it were mine I'd change the oil with some good Rotella T5 or T6 or Valvoline Blue. and I'd change the coolant. At that mileage I would NOT chem flush it. And dont belive the internet bS about 10,000 distilled water flushes either. Drain the shit, pull the block plug on the drivers side and the radiator petcock and refill with a decent Diesel ELC additive coolant.

Then I'd re-do the temp delta test. I bet youll be happy.

It doesnt have "factory head studs" because those are mutually exclusive. It either had factory head bolts or has been converted to head studs.

Again..there is ZERO chance I'd ARP stud a head at 300k mils if there isnt an issue. Honestly I wouldnt if there was an issue. AT 300k you are too close to in frame service interval. If I went that far into a 300k mile engine it'd be a long block VT365.

If you decide to delete EGR absolutely replace the oil cooler at the same time. Otherwise Id change the fluids, which are maintenance items anyway, before I tore into it.

Scott does great work and has deleted two 6.0s for me. 1 word of caution. Pay the extra $100 for the "good" EGR bypass if you go that route. He put the "cheaper but just as good" one on my 07 and fought it for a while. He stood behind it and made it right but he had to tear into it 3 times to get it to seal.

If it were mine...Itd get an oil change and a coolant drain and fill. And Id give it hell.

Your point likely still holds true, but I'm the dumb ass and fat-fingered the mileage. The truck has 198k on the clock.
 
Well, ended up selling the e99 7.3 I bought back in June. Fortunately was able to get my money back out of it and actually make a little bit (because...7.3).

Drove down to Madison, GA on Saturday morning and picked up this 2006 F-350 CCLB Lariat PSD. Pulled out of my driveway at about 2:45am Saturday morning in my wife’s SUV and empty trailer in tow. Got to GA around 8am after a piss and fuel stop, looked it over good, test drove, switched around the trailer, loaded the SUV on the back and turned and burned back to NC. So far I'm very pleased with the truck. The overall driving / towing experience is night and day IMO. With all the updates it's just a much more refined truck (I have absolutely zero interest in driving a 6.7 PSD right now because truck envy will do what it does). I'm now the 4th owner and the truck has 198k miles. It's been in GA and TX all it's life and the owner (again, old man probably in his 60s) didn't know whether the motor had been into before. I had a diesel shop in Madison check it out and he told me it had factory head bolts (I confirmed once I got there) and he said he couldn't tell what (if anything) had been done. My guess...it's fairly close to a stock truck.

Bought a Bluetooth OBDII reader and downloaded the Torque Pro app beforehand to monitor shiote on the way home. Below is a screenshot of what I was seeing. To me, things looked pretty good but not sure about the EOT / ECT delta. The highest EOT I saw was about 224* and the ECT hovered around the 12-18* spread but never got to 20 and typically didn't go over 15* but did a couple times. So...what say you @CasterTroy @Caver Dave @Ron or any of the other 6.0 gurus out here. I've talked to Scott a few times now over at Trucks Unlimited. I am more than likely going to have him do his thing for reassurance (ARP, Ford gaskets, test / deck heads, new oil cooler, not sure what I'll do w/ EGR yet). Other plans for the truck are pretty basic (MBRP 4", Livewire TS+, Ford updates w/ blue spring, etc., coolant filtration, some of the others things being mentioned in the 6.0 Tunes thread, etc.)

If you do mess with it and have head gaskets and studs put in there is no way I would put the heads back on without having a machine shop o-ring them.
When I do a 6.0 that needs headgaskets it always gets studs, head machined and valves pulled and checked as well as the seats and guides and checked for cracks. And the o-ring job done. If the customer doesnt want to spend the money for one of those then I tell them to take the truck somewhere else.

Picked up a new to me enclosed trailer today. 24ft, extra height, United brand with 5,200lb axles. Really need it for moving and storage. But it’s a plus that the Jeep will fit in it. Yes Hi-Lift jack was the original owner. 6” I beam main frame with 6” C channel cross members 16” OC. Weighed in empty at 4,440lbs

x2. I did that on my 6.0 a couple of years ago. No regrets, and no issues since, just make sure to keep spare fuel filters in the truck at all times.
 
Handy when towing something bigger, like the daughter's new project.
She couldn't decide between a Jeep and a truck, so got both in one package.
And in case anyone wants to know, a long bed J20 does fit on a Uhaul car hauler. Barely.
(Don't tell Uhaul. Then thought I was hauling a 1996 Honda.)

Tried my wife’s truck today for towing the Jeep. Was so much more comfortable than my 7.3 F350. Her 18 Silverado has a 6” BDS lift and 35” Cooper STT pros. Used a weight distribution hitch for the first time and I was very pleased. She even did most of the towing today.

Is that a silver-Ray-doe...well got dang, any year of one of them thar bad boys can get the job done, 2000+ one ton diesel or not.
 
New fleet addition

2012 Chevy Express 3500 ext wb, 6.0/ new 6l90 installed at dealership, 250k miles, $3500.

Sold the deckover trailer to Gavin to buy the van. Will be primary tow duty for recycling biz.
