What have you done for your health today?

I set the goal back in January and accomplished it today. 1000 miles on my mountain bike this year! My lazy ass didn't start riding again until May 2, so I feel pretty good about it.
Great ride after work in the cool air

My goal for next year is 10 miles a month. I still havent decided which month it will be.

I haven’t posted up in this thread in awhile, so here’s my 2019 summary:

1st ever Spartan race back in April.
1st ever half marathon in December.
Workout totals:
88 runs (mostly with F3, a few were solo)
37 F3 boot camps
11 bike rides, some trail rides, some on the road, all on my full suspension mtb.
1 kayak day on the waterway at Cherry Grove.

Well me, the wife and daughter started the health challenge type thing yall guys did a few months ago. Do 100 a day for the month of jan. Wife and daughter chose squats and I chose sit-ups. Taped $50 to the front of the fridge and we keep up with daily totals on the family fridge calender. Whoever completes 3100 for the month wins the cash and if we all do it we are going out to eat on the money.

Why did I choose sit-ups, my flabby belly is already hurting and I have not even started lol

So went to the doctors for some bronchitis over the weekend and got weighed for the first time in a while. I was 30lbs lower than my peak in 2019...but 36lbs heavier than my lowest weight in 2019. 66lbs of yo-yo’ing...insane.

Bringing this back up on my end. Last year I went from 245 to around 190-195ish from January to July. From July to December, I basically maintained that weight while still eating somewhat healthy but drinking alcohol. A lot of my strength returned which was nice. Ended the year right around the 200lb mark which tells me two things. 1. This is my new base weight(used to be 225-230 ). 2. I can maintain that weight just by working out and having a somewhat health diet while still enjoying beer, bourbon, and whisky.

However, me being me, decided that 200lbs was still too heavy, so Jan 1. I went on another cut. I'm still using RP Strength but decided to use the app this time instead of the paper template. I started Jan 1st at 203.3. As of this morning I am 198.0. The goal is to get down to about 180-185 while still maintaining strength numbers. I'm going to keep protein relatively high, fats moderate, and begin to cut carbs down week by week. An example of a day of eating looks like this. 200grams of Protein, 60grams of Fat, 160grams of carbs. This is all spread out through 4 meals and two protein shakes(whey protein with creatine right after a workout and casein protein before bed).

Today's workout at the gym is

For Time:
100m handstand walk buy in
Then 2 rounds for time
30 single DB box step ups(55lb DB)
400m Run
30 single arm DB hang clean and jerk
400m run 30 SA DB power snatch

So a 1 mile run broken up into 4 sections and a bunch of dumbbell work.

Core cashout after the workout is
3 rounds
10 SA plank rows each arm
25 V ups or hollow rocks

Goal for 2020, visible abs which I haven't had since high school.

I haven't posted in here in a while. I had a scary event back in late September. It turned out to just be stress!!! I now have that under control. I spent most of the remainder of 2019 doing just cardio workouts with minimal weight work. To recap 2019, I started out about 201 lbs, went on a bulk and hit 210 lbs by late April, then finished 2019 at 188 lbs. I haven't weighed that little in several years. I'm not sure where I am going from here, but I still go to the gym every day during my lunch hour. Losing strength and size messes with your mind though.

One last thought, I am also super jealous of @Jody Treadway mountain bike rides up there in the beautiful mountains!

Went to the gym today for the first time since last year. Still fat.

Been off the wagon for since we started 10hr days at work. Got a new job that I'm starting in 2 weeks that should allow less hours and give me more me time and family time.
New job is 5 min from a place i like to bike, so i treated myself to a, new to me, mountain bike. I've needed an upgrade. Went on a 14 mile try out around Salem lake this morning. I think i like it. No pics at the lake though.

I plan to ride 2-3 days a week after work, when i start.

99.5% of my bicycle riding these days is done in the neighborhood, or on greenways/gravel/dirt paths with my son and wife. I'm getting older and have a bad neck due to reckless behavior in my youth, so I told my wife that I wanted a 'Comfort Bike' for my birthday.

The weather was great yesterday, so my wife, son, and I went for a ride through the neighborhood. The new bike is MUCH more comfortable than my old one that has a bent over riding position. I should have gotten this 5-10 yrs ago.

Here is my 'old man' bike. It is a Giant Cypress.

Walked my little beagle 4 miles. 90 push ups, a few minutes of planking, and 300 crunches. I'm down to 190 from 248 last January. Not too shabby. Shooting for 180, but we'll see where it stops!

Well good....remember that when I come see you to get 4.10s put in my HD :D

That one hurt....a lot. Kettlebell weight ended up being 53 lbs for the guys. In my infinite wisdom, I decided to wear my 20lb weight vest to prep me for Murph on Memorial Day. Finished in 30:28. It was bad. My shoulders are fried right now and my hamstrings are super tight.

Today's workout looks like fun.

6 rounds each in a 4 minute window.

200m run
1 rope climb
3 deadlifts at 275
5 Burpee box jumps
7 chest to bar pullups.

Rest remaining amount of time in 4 mins.

Down a bit more to 195.1 Feeling good!

No pain, no gain. Pain is just weakness leaving the body.

Started the new year at 244. 235 now. The food poisoning I got on the eve of the 1st gave me a nice jump start on the weight loss. Goal is to get back to about 195. Any more and I start to look like skin and bones.

Biggest thing I did was cut back on carbs (but not totally cut out like South Beach), cut out sweet tea (was probably getting down 10 glasses a day....a few thousand calories in sugar probably), and very limited deserts. Trying to ramp up activity level now.
