Upgrade to the "bat proof" box from the blowes. It's got 1/8" thick top and sides. My mail box it a magnet for some one to hit it. It's been hit 15 times or so. Anything from a smack of a mirror to complete mow down. It's been great worth the extra $$

Got me a Ford mirror this week CA46D57D-03B4-4BA7-9306-4FDC42330B02.jpeg

I saw where a dude concreted in a 5” PVC tube into a mailbox for the mail to go in but the rest was totally bat proof

I was going to suggest this as well.
Add a 4” schedule 80 post filled with concrete and it’s a party!

I had installed a mailbox and post for one of my neighbors (before we moved) and it got hit multiple times. Once it was a guy on another street who was seen hitting it. I and another neighbor rode over and saw the damage on his car and knocked on the door. He denied it. I replaced that box and/or post several times for her over the years.

Been wanting to buy a Stein brand lowering device for tree work. And naturally the one I wanted was out of stock. So I text a picture of it to a welder buddy of mine and he welded me one up. Only had to pay for materials which was only like $50, and have enough material left over to make 2 more if I wanted to. Sure is nice to know good people that know how to do stuff lol.

Got home from work @ 4:56. Driving south through Cary from I-40 @ north Harrison ave. to downtown Cary, Dry ave. to Kildaire rd., to Arthur Pierce rd. and to my house. About 30 stoplights on this route and every damn light was green !!!!.I was gonna stop at the HT to get beer but the light was green and I rolled on home. I'm gonna go their in a while and buy some beer and some scratch offs.

Not really "right now" anymore but will be by the end of this post ;-)

Finally making some headway on my shed.
Pulled all the advantech OSB out of my basement floor, decided it was better used as shed decking. Boy thst was a PITA but it saved a bundle.

Aside- I am totally sold on Advantech OSB. it is heavy and expensive but the water repulsion and stability are incredible.

Then by end of day Sat, had 4 walls framed together. Waiting until I have everything ready to Lego it together all at once to assemble.

Set my son to work cutting a ton of rafter gussets

Freaking weather man lied about Sunday. The 10% drizzle turned into 50% chance real rain on and off all day, killing progress.

So we spent the day creating a huge pile of scrap while making a Brazilian rafters

So this is today, get to do about 250 screws making rafters.
At least a jig makes it easy

I will say, I don't know what happened, but the $2.87 2x4x8 studs from my local Home Depot are surprisingly straight. I'm used to having to hunt through the stacks to find decent ones - these have all been spot on, only a few have a slow bow.

I noticed that too at Lowes, bought some 2x4s and all were fantastic. It was really weird.

The lumber area in Smithfield Lowes looked like it had been hit by a tornado, scrap and trash everywhere, few of the racks at legible tags, the 2x4 and 5/4x6 treated bunks had been mostly turned over, it had apparently been a free for all earlier in the day. what lumber I did get was reasonably straight.

Smithfield always looks like that, Knightdale is usually a better in my experience.
