Justified

i saw that last night, there was a teaser during SOA on FX.

it loks like FX is starting to "bring it"

They sure are... I've never been more captivated by a show than SoA... I scare the shit out of my dog every time something crazy happens, like last night at the end... I yelled WTF so loud he ran and hid!

Saw the teaser during SoA, looks like it might be interesting. Some of the shots reminded me of places in Harlan, some of them looked like they were from somewhere else.

Bumping a really old thread...

I’m in love with this show. Bout half way thru season 3. Done some reading and some of it is based on real people and real events based in Harlan County, such as Mags in season 2 who was based on a real woman who ran a boot leg joint in Evarts.

Very believable seeing as how you can buy moonshine off the local sheriff in Harlan lol.

So has anyone else watched this show and love it?

Watched it back in the day. Pretty good show to waste time.

I loved that show, they did a great job with the storyline to do something so different than most other shows. Walter Goggins was awesome as Boyd Crowder, fantastic character.

That was one of few shows I recorded. Like most shows looking for content, I felt the last season or two started to get a little far fetched. Regardless, was one of a short list of shows I made sure to watch every week.

I got stuck after falling through ice around New year's one year in Harlan (probably around 2010). Some guys that were literally parked there when we pulled up helped get us unstuck, one was a preacher, the other was his son. The son said he used to run drugs from Mexico up to Harlan in the fuel tank of his semi truck. Said he was ''the" kingpin in Harlan. Had a Hummer, bug house, the works. Then he got busted haha.

Yes Boyd Crowder and Raylan make the show for sure. I watched the first 2 seasons on DVD years ago but never bought the rest. I’ve picked it back up since it’s on Prime.

Seriously, me and my wife nearly named our son Raylan due to this show....

Watched the whole series back in the day. The short stories the whole show is based upon are really good too. There is a lot of fiction, but a lot of real events fueled the fiction for sake of a story line.

The whole Mags thing is based on a real person. I think the lady’s name was actually Maggie Bailey from what I heard over the years up there and it was one of the roadside shops, maybe her house or something between Harlan and Evarts IIRC. The whole pot story line is a stretch. Her thing was shine.

Superb show.

The ending was surprisingly satisfying as well(and unexpected) and that gun slinging Boone Kid was creepy as hell in the final season.

10/10 will watch again.

My neighbor did name his son Raylan after the show.

My buddy named his asshole puppy Arlo because it was stubborn as shit and wouldn’t listen.
Netgear named their security cameras Arlo for the same reasons :D

Mag Bailey didn't sell shine she sold beer and liquor. Shine brought in the feds. Beer and liquor was state and county police. She sent a few people to college to become lawyers and then judges over the years. Wich she had control over to keep herself out of trouble. Not counting the police she had control of. My family hauled the beer and liquor to her and other people through out the county. There are a few other thing in that are semi true with a few name changes.
Her place was as you head toward Evarts you cross the bridge about a mile out of Harlan city it was one the right side of the road at the end of the bridge.

Been going to Harlan so much I got this show on my mind. Had to start watching it again. Into season 2 again, man this is a great show.

I never watched Justified, but Kentucky Justice was good. It was a Cops or LivePD type show that followed the Harlan County Sheriff. I remember being up there one year and seeing the reelect sheriff signs.

Where are you watching it? Me and the Mrs got to season 4 and they took it off Prime. I liked it but I don't feel like paying extra for it.

I’m paying $25 per season on Amazon myself. It’s honestly that good to me. I just love it. It’s worth it.

It's on Hulu if you have that.

If you have not been to the Portal in Harlan you should. They are in the show in a couple scenes. Of course none of it was shot in Harlan.
