Lots of interesting news today

A Corvette with a 6.2, is generally Bad Ass; but add a Electric motor, for Hybrid? This Smokes the tires!
Corvette E-Ray Prototype Burns To The Ground In Spain

Then why aren't they? I'm not normally of this position, but it seems like .gov should have just told mfgs to produce X% of chips on US soil or be prepared to pay XX% tax on total revenue.
Because thats not allowing capitolism to work and mpeople get pissy when the government dictates what private industry is allowed to do.

Look no further than the "high-tech" UAVs of the Russians and the issues they have producing anything without international components. If China produces ANY item we need for guidance systems, logic processing, etc for military or critical hardware, we are screwed if they "sanction" us like what we did to Russia.
Thats only half of it. The real threat is components and modifications made at the foundry under the table that allow back-door access and control. Once you hand over the complete schematic for an IC and say "build this" you have to trust that they actually do and don't slip in any extras. For those unaware, IC companies have to go through a very expensive and tedious inspection process of samples to ensure what they get back is a perfect match for the design specs.... not just for QC for "other stuff..." and not surprisingly this is a much bigger concern for certain customers (telecom, defense) than others.

Rephrased:
If China produces ANY item we use for guidance systems, logic processing, etc for military or critical hardware, we are screwed if they decide to remotely disable, control, or damage them..
DARPA had a whole program a few years ago about developing a tiny coomponent (micron level) that could be added to any IC that monitored any kind of environmental change that suggested tampering during the whole chain of custody.
The fact we even have to consider such things is the sign of needing a new pathway.

Seems decent. A battery pack big enough to power a boat isn't going to be too phased by radio and such. And if your music is drawing enough amps to matter, turn that hick hop shit down, nobody else should be subjected to it.

I know a ton of families and all that don’t put more than 2 hours of actual hours anytime they go out. Hell most times we only put about 2-3 hours of run time on the boat when we go out
But how many times do you accelerate from 0 to near wot during those two hours of run time? 2-3hrs of runtime probably means planed out with a stiff tail wind 😅

I can basically listen to the stereo on my boat most of a day on a single battery without it running. Stereo alone really don't kill that much power.
You obviously don't have a wake boat. Those suckers automatically turn the stereo to 11 every time you give it throttle, and then never turn back down.

okay y'all are right. let me get in my ford lightning truck and go the 300 miles they say it will go. oh wait that's not towing, or with the radio on, with no air and i have to be going a constant speed of 65 the whole time......
I hear ya, but keep in mind, when you're out in your gas powered boat, there's a lot of idle time. When an electric boat is not on the throttle, it's using zero energy for the motor.

Your boat owning friends have more money than mine. My broke ass buddies cut the motor every second they're not moving.

Haha, our tower speakers are only on if we are riding, and I would probably have the boat louder if the family didn't tell me to turn it down.

I'm not saying the stereo doesn't take some battery, but it isn't much. Towing of course will kill it. If I cared enough I would do the math lol.

I'm curious to know what one of these eboats will cost. The parent companies cheapest gas powered boats start at $68,000....with no motors

Dang. Building it out as the most basic one comes out to 103k.

Anything over a light chop is going to drain it down as well. No regen through braking, but maybe you could regen through the prop while you're anchored out?
or solar panels.
One thing you don't have to worry about is shade:D

I can't even begin to talk intelligently about global economy and multinational corporations. But I would see a flat ultimatum like that crushing any international business. Market leaders like Intel, Qualcomm, and many others would have been killed in the international market place if we had hit them with a stick vs. offering a carrot. The reality is that Germany, Japan, China, and many other nations offer incentives to cultivate domestic production. Heck, look at how much we subsidize agriculture to keep domestic food production.

The food production is a double edge sword. They subsidize to keep prices low, but prices are climbing because .gov continues to make laws that stress production and make it more expensive. That plus Monsanto having them in their pockets and controlling the seed industry.

I would just stick a 12v deep cycle in there to run the stereo on, if it was an issue. You could run it a long time before needing to charge it back up at home.
