Another 87 YJ build (my 3rd one)

I had added over an 1/8th of material to the bottom of that cover awhile back and precision ground the cover back flat with a high quality Milwaukee surface grinder  Had planned to or did (really can't remember) weld a plate to the bottom to try and help but the above mentioned driving styles were at play.
We did weld the plate to the bottom

but the above mentioned driving styles were at play.
Holding a steering wheel while simultaneously stabbing a skinny pedal is not a definition of driving. Launching seems more appropriate. Turning violently to counter act bouncing forces intuitively sounds more like self defense. I guess the term beat down is relative from this perspective.

At least it gets in the woods, more than I can say.

Holy crap, spray paint is stupid expensive.
yep, to bad you don't want the Gray I posted up.......and that is also why I don't buy rattle cans very often.

Big day today.
We were closed at the lumberyard, or at least until I got the email a stock truck was arriving early. Buttoned up things are work, forwarded the office line to my cell and got to work on the YJ.
Driver's front caliper was hanging up. Piston moves freely, so I knew it wasn't the caliper. Turned out the sliding caliper retainer was bent. Straightened it, power bleed the brakes and called them done.
Greased the new Yukon superjoints (pain in the ass), topped off the diffs (rear shave cover still leaks) and transfer case. Done.
There wasn't a recovery point in the rear. Knowing I'll be up ahead of you posers, I felt as if I needed somewhere to hook a strap up. Had a bunch of 1.5" x 3" rectangle tubing for some reason and a hitch receiver. Cobbled up a bumper to protect the back of the Jeep and also where I can add a d ring receiver. Welded to the frame inside and outside, pretty stout really Done
Then I decided to add some paint to the tub where the new aluminum fenders will go. That way, no over spray. Well, I got carried away and painted the entire Jeep, cage and all. 3 cans of New Holland Ford blue and 1/2 quart of Krylon later, the paint is done.
All that is left is to install the Genright fenders and swap over the 42 Treps. Should get it basically done one evening this week. I think the blue will look good in the daylight. Same stuff as my Ranger, so you could say I have a pattern.

@Jody Treadway
Just curious whats your end goal with this build? Is it gunna compete with the ranger? Or is it a temp build?
Trying to advocate for the Ranger - would hate to see it become the red headed step child! lol

First line in first post.
Ranger is getting there. I want something I can take out and use until it is done.
YJ is already sold upon completion of the Ranger
