Rockcity's small dozer shenanigans

@rockcity

Oddly enough...I was off work today šŸ˜… I got home last night around 11:30.

FYI 14.5 are rated for 50mph max.
Thats what kills em is heat build up.

Its backwards as fuck but if you want to run those things drop the psi down to about 45 (and slow down)

You always blowing trailer tires

Up until now Iā€™ve been pretty good with trailer tires the last couple years ever since I built my new trailer aside from losing spare off the back of the trailer somewhere on I40.

And these 14.5 tires suck.

How many did we change that one trip to Harlan? 5?

I hope you let him loose on that narrow ass driveway :D

My buddy's dad over in Blounts Creek runs dozers for a living if you ever need to see what it'll do. He aint scared! That's equally good and bad.

I'm really glad to hear you sold the trailer. You're better off not having it than actually trying to use it

As Cousin Eddie said:

It was a real, quality item...:D

Lol
There really wasnā€™t a feasible way to make it work for me without a notable amount of work and $. I didnā€™t want to use either on this trailer.

Iā€™m actually probably going to just upgrade my current trailer and swap out my 5200lb axles for something a bit better. The frame is good, just need new axles, tires, and suspension.

Sounds like a lot of work for a trailer. Haven't you been down that train of thought lately?

I actually saw a bumper pull 22' Kaufman tilt for sale the other day on FB. He's the husband of a girl I know. Unfortunately, he has it listed for about 100 bucks less than a new one...

However, it's a 2022 model and has 17.5s. It's also wayyyy closer and you wouldn't have to wait on it, sales tax, etc. I'm sure you could haggle him down some. Not sure if you'd sell your trailer or not. Also don't know if 22' would be ideal. I know it'd fit, but unsure on tongue weight vs trailer balance.

Just food for thought!

As easy as that would be, Iā€™ve already got a decent trailer that is the perfect length for me, just needs upgraded axles. Iā€™ll slowly source what I need along the way and eventually put some axles together for my current trailer. And with it being a 2022 Kaufman, Iā€™m sure itā€™s not cheap.

Whelp, it seems that although the injector pump was supposedly ā€œrebuiltā€, the Roosa Master pump flex ring seems to have finally let loose and is clogging up the return line check valve causing the dozer to slowly cut off as the injection pump builds too much internal pressure.

So, I can clear out the check valve as a temporary fix but looks like Iā€™ll need to dive in to the injection pump and replace the plastic flex ring or do the upgraded elimination kit. Ugh.
