Un-Brodozing an 05 TJ

Spent a week one night at the Star Light in Jellico.
Oooooof.
There once was a moist county in Harlan KY…

That cabin wasn’t what it appeared.

There was a young lady destined for the meth pipe that hadn’t found it yet …that caught the eye of several Off roaders.

I blame @tobaccoroad4wd since the wife saw the same pattern on his seats and had to have them. 🤣 now I need a set with a little twist for the YJ. These things blow my Corbeaus away in comfort.
I put the same seats in my LJ, but mine aren’t quite so bougie. Damn comfortable though.

I wasn’t sure if regular jackstands would hold the weight of a HP 30.

I’ll tear this one down for a refresh and have it mostly ready to go once the LP leaves the chat. I’m amazed it’s held up to what’s been thrown at it so far but the Zillas might just send it to Jesus.

Tubes are cleaned off and the upper bushing pressed out of the housing on the HP30. This next part will surely accelerate the need to finish that axle. Have a Barnes truss and C gussets on the table for it. Just need to scoop up some fresh ball joints and unit bearings for it. Then it will be ready for whatever is left out of the existing axle when Alex grenades the LP.

Headed to the ranch again in October so we finally settled on some beadlocks for the poverty stickies. I would have liked to do a set of weld on’s with some 15x6 trailer wheels but time is money. Ended up with some 15x8 Raceline/Allied steelies and did the Gorilla Tape inner bead mod. 15” beadlocks aren’t as common as they used to be for sure.

First trip on the poverty Treps was a success. Nothing let go but where the old tires slipped a little, the extra traction makes the need for deeper gearing more noticeable. Needs a bushing in the shift linkage, bolt check and I’ve got a new Trektop sitting in the shop so we can drive it around more this winter.

If I can come across a reasonably priced Rubi case we might go that route. If not, a Rubicrawler kit would work.
