No body damage will keep me from slowly killing myself lolDudes got half his upper body broke off and still cooking more than my wife!
Good luck. Exhaust has always whooped me. I just pay the man lol . But for what it’s worth I never reduced the wire size down like i should have.I haven’t messed with a welder in at least 20 years. I just never had access to the space or power.
Teaching myself now so I can do the exhaust for the 360 swap on the Jeep

I called a shop local to me and they wanted like $2500 to do it.Good luck. Exhaust has always whooped me. I just pay the man lol . But for what it’s worth I never reduced the wire size down like i should have.

This! I cut my teeth right out the bat in heavy sheet and plate goods. All I knew was .035/.045 and heavier. Then my education really polished my stick and tig welding..023 wire and turn it down to where is just starts to sizzle the bacon. Go slow and it works out good. In my case a solid mediocre but never had a leak or burn through.

Years. I mean years as in half way through my career at present after cussing and fussing and literally questioning my abilities I discovered .023 and .030 hard wires. I'd always assumed hobby welders and anything below a 200 series machine ran them because of the user and power out put.
Marsfab drove me nuts looking at his porn weld quality and getting around tube and dang near what ever he built of gauges much lighter then I established my habits and form on.
His post and letting out some tech here and there pushed me to bite the bullet. Having owned a specific miller mig for years and then changing wire diameter was like buying a completely different machine.
Every exhaust shop I’ve ever been in runs .023 flux core. They don’t even run gas. That’s interesting, thanks for sharing!
I have two huge spools of .030 from I don’t even know where so that’s what I’m using.
Maybe I should buy some .23 while I’m still learning.
If ever your in my area I'd be glad to give you some one on one. I miss teaching when students really wanted to be in it for the education. That’s interesting, thanks for sharing!
