Yo Miggers!

along with this thread; I have never welded with an inverter machine. My most used machine at home is a lincoln powermig digital 255. Would I benefit anything besides space savings? I have looked at all of these welders listed in the past since I dont use anywhere near the max 50% of my current welders output.

I agree with Braxton. At work we had nothing but problems out of all our Miller stuff (newer inverter machine's) and have converted to Everlast. We haven't had any problems with those. If I were in the market for a new mig machine this one would be it. We got one a couple years ago at work and its a beast. It does everything really well include spool gun aluminum. Very easy to use and impressive.

That said, at home I have an older Hobart 210MVP and its probably the welder I'm gonna die with. It goes months if not years and never gets used. I just don't use one at home enough to justify replacing it (no matter how hard I try to convince myself).

this is what I have and works great

Lincoln 215 MPI showed up yesterday. Got it setup and welding this evening. Pleased so far.

Immediate improvement over my old Hobart. Right is my old welder, left is the new one.

Don’t judge em too hard, this was done one handed on a step stool, overhead, and was literally my very first weld with a new welder, helmet, and gloves, haha.

But I’d also love feedback on how I can improve. Here’s weld #2.

Finally got some burn time with a new Lincoln today. I’m very pleased with it. It definitely welds better than I do. I helped @Scott86MJ get his truss connected to this Superdoody D60 that he got from @Noel.

On some of the final burns where I was connecting the 3/8” plate to the 1/2” axle tube, I turned it all the way up to near the top of its capabilities, and I’m pretty sure it transitioned the spray transfer mode and laid down some really nice beads.

talk to me about helmets. I have the one that came with my welder when I bought it in 2006, which surprisingly still works. But the view window is very small and I have absolutely no idea what I'm doing so the more I can see the better.

I like how this one has the side view on it. Why would you need to slow the auto darkening down?

I have a Klutch and it’s alright. Company bought it. Mostly I like it cause the headgear is super comfortable. Burnt a 30lb spool of .035 outer shield on Monday and didn’t have any fatigue or white spots after welding most on the day.

Lincoln 3350 is a great helmet.
I like mine.

Maybe once I'm an awesome welder I'll spend $500 on a helmet.. but not today
I said that for years. I think I found mine for $300 on sale and the difference was night and day over the $50 HF ones I had been using.

I got a free Lincoln 2450 with the last welder I bought, and I like it a lot better than the Miller I previously had, which I liked better than the Northern Tool cheapie I previously had. If the Lincoln 3350 wasn't so expensive, I would get one with a bigger lens, but honestly the 2450 does what I need and the optical quality is phenominal.

Lots of good info here! I tend to lean Blue, I started on a old 200amp years ago with a company I stretched truck frames for rollbacks. I had 2 marks on the dials, 1 for frame and 1 for exhaust. I have been pondering for a looooong while what to buy back to leaning Blue I like the new 211 but a Hobart 190 would probably do all I need. And wonder if anyone has used one of Eastwood Tools welder? They have a 200 amp welder and 60 amp plasma cutter combo deal under $1800.

No complaints about the hobart creator helmet from tractor supply. $90 and it's clear as a bell.

IDK who this company is but this is the one I have. Might be a reseller for over stock. Might be a scam. Someone with better internet skills might can help.

Edit to add in. Maybe I paid $400.

Anyone with experience with yeswelder, they sell one compatible with the gun I have on my 120everlast that just puffed the black smoke of death, and I can upgrade to a 220 buying power unit only and save some coin

I know a dude with a miller 185 for sale.
