What's especially sad is Hayti is/was a success story. This has to be a parody. It's like the entire operation is just run to showcase stupid. And the crowd grows!
Skynet ain't gonna get us, our inability to speak truth will. And of course its a 'church'

Durham community unites to tackle affordable housing crisis
On Sunday, community leaders stressed the importance of accessible housing that supports financial stability and mental health, urging developers to honor local heritage and meet genuine community needs.www.wral.com
“And considering in a lot of underrepresented communities, jobs that are, I guess, available to us, are not jobs that can pay the rent that Durham is charging right now. So learning how to have trades, learning how to have a second income without taking ourselves away from our family because most of us are single, independent mothers, it’s important,” she said.
-how to have trades? you are independent huh? rent 'Durham' is charging?
"Concerns over developers attempting to build in and around historically black neighborhoods such as Hayti also continue to grow."
-Well which is it? Build or don't build?
And these rocket scientists named a community Hayti? This is real life?
“You're coming as a developer to build in Durham. But do you know why you want to be here? The reason why you want to be here is the work and the legacy of the people who have lived here off of Hayti, those people who worked diligently before 147 came through and disrupted our community,” said Thelemaque.
“It's not that we don't want development. We want to be intentional about who it's for, and that you're actually lifting up the history of the people in Durham,” she added.
-no, developers are gonna go where the $ is. Has no one told this 'council' the truth about these independent single moms?
hayti. get real.
Former slaves who had worked and purchased their independence pre and mid civil war established the community - named after their "home land" where many had been captured and sold (how romantic and idealistic) ...it was the first primarily black business district in NC.
In an era of segregation and true oppression these early leaders overcame and built businesses, their own schools with their own money and labor, even theaters and cultural centers.
It was a beacon for "we can overcome" - now its being turned around to "we cant possibly exist without help"
