doomsday preppers

FIGHT NICE CHILDREN YOU MAY HAVE TO BE IN THE SAME GROUP AROUND THE CAMP FIRE.
AND I MAKE THE RULES, CAUSE I WAS THE ONLY ONE SMART ENOUGH TO PACK THE LIGHTER. HATE EVERYONE EQUALLY SO NO ONE FEELS LEFT OUT.

I've decided on digging a moat. Seemed to work back in the day.
 
Is anybody watching this crazy ass woman prepairing for a pandemic? Im pretty sure i would leave the neighborhood.
 
I'm shooting for 30 days.

Much more than that, something like nuclear devastation...I'm not sure I'd wanna be around anyway.

30 days won't do a bit of good unless I can get home to it, though.

Ammo, everybody stocks up on home defense stuff -- 06, 12ga, 308's. That's important, to some degree, but with a 22 bolt action, I can eat fairly good, not have to deal with 50 lbs of leftover deer meat unrefrigerated, and not have everybody come running when I fire it. Squirrels are tasty, there's a bajillion of them around here, and a 22 pistol with Aguila Super Colibri and I can take treerats in my backyard and the neighbors won't even know. Heck, there's a lot of stuff I'd eat if I was hungry, and a 22LR is all you need.

I can make about 4 days with the generator to keep the fridge and freezer cold enough...back when we lost power with the last hurricane, I'd run about 4 hours, leave it for 8, then 4 on 8 off again. That kept everything cold and frozen (with a couple of quilts wrapped around the fridge and freezer) and gave plenty of time to recharge stuff. That was about 7 gallons a day. More than 4 days it's just not worth it...I'll do without power at all after that point. In the last 20 years, I've had 3 extended power outages -- 5 to 10 days.

Yup. The way I figure, you should be able to be 100% self-sufficient for 14 days. If you've got a decent supply of food around the house and some camping supplies, that's easier to do than you might think. That'll ensure you're prepared for any minor inconvenience that might come along, too.... like snow/ice storms, hurricanes, earthquakes, tornadoes, etc.

But after 3-4 days, you should be working on a 'tribe' arrangement of some sort, regardless. Neighbors, family, etc. The division of labor aspect is reason enough... clearing the street from downed limbs, butchering livestock, maintaining security from looters... hell, just the idea that you can't know how to do everything. Maybe your neighbor knows all about how to prevent blossom end rot or how to build a still or repair a roof, or... who knows.

Thats it. My camp boxes are always packed and ready and we keep enough food for at least a couple weeks. I doin't think Im going to bug out, I got all my stuff here. If it's nuclear, it won't matter anyway. Me and my neighbors will do just fine. I'm an all around kind of person and have a lot of tools and equipment. Neighbor across the street is retired Army and was a sniper or tactical shooter of some sorts, other nighbor across street likes AKs and such and has a few, ones beside me grows vegetables out the ass so I'm thinking our little clan will be ok right here.

that lady is crazy. that was the worst one to watch. my favorite is the people with the buses and the shipping container house.

My plan is to pack my family in the jeep head to URE and live with bigfoot. he knows how to survive off the land and no one can find him.

I would like to build an inground room. im worried about all the tornados and hurricanes. Right now i have no cover if one came thru rock hill.
 
I do some lightweight homesteading... garden, have equipment for on/off grid solar electricity/water heating, but that's the way I live anyways. I don't really prepare for doomsday by any means; I'd hope that I didn't notice my grid electricity failed.
 
Brandon we should team up. I have protection covered, you can take care of electricity and other smart stuff :p
 
I still want one of them crowvulls.... or how ever you spell it. The guy that shot himself in the thunb:shaking: came up with it. Would pretty cool to darry around in the Jeep.....
 
So a quick bump, looks like Discovery Channel has begun their own "Doomsday" series. This one is called Doomsday Bunkers. Follows a company called Deep Earth Bunkers. They fabricate Fiberglass and Steel storm shelters, safe rooms, and bunkers. Pretty cool stuff actually.

Anyone see where one of those preppers was checked out and had his guns taken away. I bet every one of these people are now on a very SPECIAL short list.

community preparedness sure, but only to an extent.

I have barter goods.

coffee. chap stick(s) burts bees, chicken poop, etc. and some shampoos, razors, and some assorted odd batteries. Sorry the TP is MINE, and no one will know of it.
 
Hippies in the missile silo pissed me off. I want a freakin missile silo... For $40k. And you bet I'd bring more useful people than a spirit guide and life coach or whatever that guy had.
