March Rock Race DPG. March 24th

7:30 day of the race is the cutoff for registration.there has to be time for signing release forms,tec inspection,drivers meeting,and and a walk through of the course.
 
man i wish that i could enter...but no cage. i hope you guys have this again over the summer so i can have time to build me a cage this spring. i will definately come to watch though. i dont need a cage for the open invite on the 25th do i?

sorry, thats for your own protection. there were a few people out there for the open ride that didn't have cages or had them poorly built and one I saw tacked together. please don't bring these to the event and expect to compete. once again ......safety
 
so what time are the events scheduled to start? how long?

Will there be any open riding to non competeting folks? Even if its just to drive down to the riding area and roll around.

Racing starts at 9:30, runs till its finished.

Sat is the race only, when it's over you can ride till about 10:00 PM, after that we'll have to quit so we don't get complaints.

There will be camping fri and sat night, but NO RIDING ON FRI!!!!!!

Open ride on sunday.

I'll be posting more info this week, as far as rules and schedule go.

I couldn't agree more....

With the rule.

You're going to be going faster during a "race" against the clock.. speed = energy, and the flops, rolls, and hits are going to be ALOT harder. that tinfoil roof isn't going to protect you when you end up on your lid.

A cage and a winch should be one of the first things to put on a rig anyway IMO.

I wouldn't call the factory cj/yj/tj/jk bars a "cage" or a chrome double tube bed bar either. those things sre good for mounting lights and picking up 12 y/o at the mall.
 
i wasn't trying to be a smart ass, just trying to to make a point. It's their event, their land, their rules. Why question it?

I wouldn't come to your house and ask why I can't keep my shoes on after you asked me to take them off.
 
A factory roll bar is not a cage. It has nothing suporting the bars over your head but the windshield. That ain't gonna cut it. I'm not gonna get into alot of cage rules here, but use a little common sense. You need at least a four point cage that encloses the driver.

EDIT: rockmafia... are you still going to let us ride during the open ride w/o a cage? Just want to know before I drive up there.

You can ride there without a cage, of course it's your melon not ours. There is a big difference in a race and riding, your adrenaline in a race situation seems to make you take chances (speed/difficulty/etc..) that otherwise you might take a second to think about if you were just 'riding'. We would of course recommend a cage for just riding around out there, but we're trying not to be 4x4 Nazis. I'll bet Rock Mafia would throw you a cage in there cheaper than a grand also....

I think Jim's idea of building a cage for a cherokee would be the cherokee exactly as it was dropped off to him......and one of his chassis.

And I'll be at the race, not sure if I'll enter or not as of yet.
