1985 4runner SR5

I've been working on an acceptable means to mount a winch on the front of the 4runner for a while now.

Rebuilt core support, e-fan, and summit radiator is further forward than stock and doesnt leave enough for a winch. Current trailgear style front bumper attaches to stock mounts reinforced with the kit from addicted offroad.

Best idea so far was cutting downs barnes dual pull plate to fit within the existing bumper mount and bars.

Dang just now saw this!!! Yea no one got a video of that little bit of action LoL!!!
It was good times!! Look forward to riding some more this coming season!

I realized a little late that the m8000 mounting pattern is offset on the body of the winch. Instead of cutting more off the bumper to center the winch bolt pattern, I cut another inch off the winch plate so it sits in the bumper, offset, to match the winch. Not the best choice aesthetically, but might be preferred structurally.

Tack welded together as it sits on the 4runner. I'll pull the bumper to fully weld top and bottom.

Fell off updating this thread. Flash update.. ready go. Re worked bumper and winch are mounted now. I may try to mount a short top bar about hood height.

Wanted to make a trip to URE for the March workday but the aftermarket fan controller plug pulled apart. Noticed the fan quit working Friday night in Charlotte working on spooling winch cable in the driveway.

I sold the 2009 tacoma daily driver. Never was thrilled on it or 5 years of payments. So Ive been daily driving the 4runner. 13 mpg mixed with the 315 70 17 Duratracs was rough, so I tried 265 70 17 wranglers on fj cruiser steel wheels. 16.5 mpg mixed driving on the last tank full. Equal part small tire looks and camera angle make a funny picture.

I blew 2 quarts of oil everywhere as a result of my poor oil filter part number interchange. This was in the morning starting it up to go to work two weeks ago. Thankfully I saw and smelled oil smoke, so I stopped before getting on I40. Too little bypass and a round cross section on the unknown application Bosch oil filter. I went to a 94 cobra Purolator pure one oil filter.

Weird thing was it I ran it like this for 3 or 4 weeks before the filter seal to the block let go. Close call.
