36 hours of Uwharrie

Just a side note- there is a lot of work to be done to prepare for the BFGoodrich 36 hours of Uwharrie! We will have two main work days, July 16 and July 23. The main trail work areas will be Big Creek and Grand Overland District. (privately owned trail systems near the Forest) The plan is to do about 4 hours or so of trail clearing work, and then have an open trail ride time after that. (these trails are a lot of fun so, if you haven't gotten a chance to check them out, this is a great opportunity!)

We will be meeting July 16th at 9am at the UORTC barn (across the street from Eldorado Outpost)
and
We will be meeting July 23rd at 9am at the Eldorado Community center.

Also, 9am this saturday (23rd) will be a meeting to discuss the roles of volunteers! For those intending to help out, this is a great way to find out what all help is needed!!!!

Can we just have a high speed race at uwharrie again, it was cheap, fun, and there was a beer truck

I tried that a few years ago. It was possible but they wouldn't "close" the race course trails to keep others out. Too dangerous as I wasn't interested in having a head on collision with a by standard. They may have changed by now. Would be worth a discussion. :)

I remember a dude drank like 5 monsters and floored it from the start.....he hit a jump and flipped 300 feet in. It was epic, he had an s10 blazer and co driver with matching fire suits and a 1995 big ass camcorder mounted inside

Hey guys! For those that want to take part in the event by helping out:

The July workdays were very successful BUT, there's still more prep to be done! We will be having a prep workday working on Grand Overland District this Saturday! (August 6th) We will be meeting at 9:00am at the UORTC barn (across the street from Eldorado Outpost!)

I am all for asking for help to keep forest trails, roads, open, etc.. or even asking for help to better build out a private wheeling spot.

but when you keep asking for help that is a "for profit event" it rubs me the wrong way..

why not post in the upcoming events section? Instead of you continuing to bump this thread..

Honestly, I just figured I'd talk about it in this thread since it already exists, rather than starting another new one. My apologies, I'll post one up in the upcoming events section.

I am actually one of the helpers (I am volunteering at the event), I think it is going to be a heck of a lot of fun either as a competitor or helping out! I was actually going to compete in it but, my truck is too long and too heavy per the event rules. So, I decided I'd help out with it since it still gives me a chance to be a part of it in some form!

Any idea what the spectating will be like? Not as a volunteer or any kind of insider, but just showing up to watch? Worth it?

Sorry for the delay in my response! Sunday is the main day that is geared for spectator style activities, from around 8am-noon with awards at 1pm. (had to be early since several teams are from quite far away so they can have any hope of making it to work Monday morning!)) There will certainly be things to see Friday and Saturday but, that's the main concentrated in one spot activity time.
