Truck did great at Harlan. Aside from a bunch of little stuff I had to mess with. It worked great. Got some work to do now that its back from its first real weekend out and not a quick shakedown.

Need to rebuild both airshocks, urethane motor mounts and to finish up some tube work I bent. Decided to chop the bed off and finish the tube work out back.

Bout damn time :usa:

Needs less frame......looks good.

The front spring hanger kit from Sky and the Chevy 60 U bolt kit showed up tonight. Got a good bit of work done. Ditched the heavy ass front bumper that was on the truck, cleaned up the frame, welded up all the usual stress points around the front spring hanger and front crossmember that like to tear apart on these trucks and mocked up the spring hanger.

Tires and wheels should be mounted up. Will pick those up tomorrow and hopefully have the front end sitting on its own weight later this week.
What kit did you use 4-6'' Lift, and what leafs, toyota leafs?? RUF??

I used the standard full width sky spring hanger and shackle kit. Bastard pack of Toyota rears up front with a few thin leafs from whatever I had mixed in. Just be sure to box in the underside of the hanger...mine is already bashed in.

I remember you talking about doing this... guess you never did it... :bling:

At least the new NC4X4 has better emoticons!

A little bit of the tube work I knocked out yesterday. It's a little further along but still some changes may be made.

Finished up replacing the bent tube and most of the new tube work out back. Want to finish up the rest by playing with the new roll bender :)

Looks good. Action packers fit?

Another ? regarding the Sky's kit, were you able to use the shackle hangers and shackles supplied with it?? What did you do for the rear of the leafs?? Just trying to decide if i should fork over the $ for the sky's kit or just build my own hanger.

Yup. I used all their stuff. Factory mounts in the frame is where I put the shackles and just pushed the hanger as far forward as possible. Just replaced all the bushings I needed to and hung the suspension back under it. I'll try to snap some better pictures for ya of how it all sits once I get back from Charlotte tomorrow. The rear leafs I used were a factory pack. IIRC I just cut down and matched up 2 or 3 of the thinnest leafs I had sitting in the shop at the time. But that was over a year ago so I cant really remember.

Your air shocks look much taller than they did in harlan. Must have been the altitude....

Airshocks are rebuilt with new seals now and added Sway A Way's shock shaft bumpers to them to help dampen the blow a little when they bottom out. Still unsure of how I want to mount some bump stops. The oil that came out of them was black/brown and just nasty. I left the shim packs alone until I get to tune them with the sway bar on the truck, added about an ounce more oil than Sway A Way says they use at factory levels and I am going to charge them back up to the recommended 200psi and tune from there.

Fabbed up a homebrew sway bar today out of an old IFS 4wd Toyota Torsion Bar, some 2" x 1/2" thick cold rolled plate for the arms, 5/8ths Heim joints, Energy Suspension bushings and some circle track car tie rods.
So far it looks to work damn good at least cycling everything with the hi-lift. We will see once I get the shocks charged back up how it takes care of the body roll.
