86 4Runner build

Well cut my spring hanger in half....
ImageUploadedByTapatalk1362718968.951489.jpg

Had to add an inch to match the axle

Little bit of cutting and grinding and I finally have the spring hanger mocked up in place.

Shackle mounts will be interesting, it'll be a couple weeks the that gets tackled.

Yeah, it will be my last, it took a shit ton of welding to do it. Next time will spend the 150 for a spool.

At least you can weld it easy. The dang cruiser third was like welding surgery.

Its just time to weld it up and you still have 150 bucks for parts, beer, or gas.... Kudos to you sir!

True, that 150 will supply enough beer to finish most of the truck :D

Well got something done this afternoon

This is with weight on the springs, these things have a stupid amount of droop. Shackle angle appears to be good, which is good cause that shit is burned in already.

Shot from the back, so nice seeing an axle under this bitch again. Now just need to set pinion angle and make sure it's centered and burn in the perches.

Still not sure where to put it yet. Also not sure if I should weld it in place or bolt it.

On a side not if anybody knows where to find a toy to Dana 300 adapter at a good deal let me know.

Are you thinking that as a 2nd, or replacement battery?
On my 4runner I switched sides w/ the AFM & battery, and changed over to a Supra AFM w/ 3" intake at the time. $8 elbow from HD is all it took to mate the AFM ('82 Supra IIRC).
Anyway that left some good room on the D-side behind the headlight. You can get even more if you take out the coolant overflow tank and flip it to the P-side as well - fits perfectly where the washer reservoir is. I have plenty of room now for my Diehard Plat w/ both top & side posts... extra bonus is the gained airflow and cooler source...

Replacement, I think I'm gonna put it where the hvac is but not sure. I am however putting the afm on the other side, the air filter will take the place where the battery was.

Started making a dash template. Need to get some sheet metal to make it out of and make a template for the top as well.

I just sold the boggers I had. On the hunt for some 42-44s. Picking new/different leaves for upfront this weekend, decided to run slider boxes instead of shackles. Should order those here soon.
