86 4Runner build

Wow I'm curious to see how you get the SAS done with such a low height, you won't be able to use the typical hangers and springs...

I'm as curious as you and I'm having one built for me. As mentioned above I might cut out the front crossmember that and I also thought about welding it to the front but I was worried about the strength.

Got the rears for free with an aal which will be removed. Still haven't had anytime to work on it. Been trying to source a rear axle.

Progress on the rear, finally have a day off with nothing to do so the runner gets some tear down.

Check out these 20 foot long shackles, def will not be reused

Tearing off the front now so well see how that goes.

Finally got the front axle tore down. The long side tube had enough dirt and sand to build a house, and I picked pieces of ring gear out for a good 20 min. Going to pick up a Dana 70 today with 4.10s and a locker :D

Finally got the heavy bitch in the shop on sunday with the help of one of my buddys. Took a little redneck engineering to get it out of the truck.

Today my stuff I ordered from sky showed up, they def pack stuff well. Everything looks to be good quailty, kinda shitty that there was no paperwork, stickers or a thank you. While back order 30 buck worth of stuff from lowrange and got all that stuff.

Got the 14 bolt prepped for the disc, the hubs fought like hell. The shoes just didn't want to let loose.

Gotcha, yeah I'm kinda hard to spot since I'm one of many stock XJ's on campus, but I am the only silver one at Hawthorn, I've been on the lookout for this since I saw this thread. Good luck with it! After it's done we should get everyone with 4wd to go to Uwharrie :bronco:

How'd that thing look inside? What was the gearing?

Def gonna regear to 5.13 or 5.38 really haven't decided which to go with yet. Hopefully will get the rear susp set up in the next couple of weeks. Might need to get a frame extension/ crossmember made for the rear, with the way I'm doing the rear springs it needs to add about 4 inches.

Damn.... guess I shoulda charged you more lol

Hell no this is college budget :D, but I will come in and have you make some stuff here soon. Yall get that yj done? Wondering how much taking that rear leaf out would help.

Few hours in the shop and got the axle cleaned, disc brackets on, and one hub cleaned and painted. Still need to cut off the stock brackets and shave the plow on the bottom.

More progress, the ifs finally fell out. Now starts the long tedious task of cutting the brackets flush and grinding.

Discovered an easier way to remove torsion bar bolts, sorta.

Also got the rock magnet out, thank god there was a drain plug. Got about 10 gallons of old gas out of it.
