next upgrades will be a winch then front locker!

Why didn't you trim more off the front? or were yo trying to make the front and rear match?

I have mine front trimmed to that edge so there is still a lip. I think you might still rub with it like it is now.

Im in Jamestown so give me a call if you wanna go to ure sometime. I usually go a few times a month and at least one big group ride a month. 336 772 5457 Kevin Campbell

i would trim off more but those thornbirds are for trails only and my street tires are only 30s....if i cut the fenders anymore those 30s will look way too small.

and the only part that rubs are the outer lugs on my thornbirds, no biggy

If you decide to trim more I would cut relief cuts and bend the metal over so you don't have sharp edges and cut the tires. It will save your tires down the road too

Good to see a newb with some common sense, style, and skill. Looks good man.

I'm digg'n the front bumper. Now slap ya an xrc8 on there!

Your going to love the bumper winch set up on the xj. I have the same winch and a custom bumper on mine and love it. DO THE DOOR HINGE MOD! You will love it!

The only thing that I would do different is mount the winch control box under the hood or buy a cover for the winch. I have to re-wire it right now because it shorted out after about a year and a half.

The best thing about the door hinge mod is that it makes your door just like a wrangler door, they slide in and out. I can change out my door in under 3 mins. I made the tube doors for under $60, they now have black vinyl inserts laced into the two spaces in the doors.

Your Jeep looks great. It will surprise you how capable it is.

Update! New Front Locker

Upgrade for a long time. Did another go around trimming fender. Relief cuts turned out good and smooth.

Also, grabbed a front aussie locker. Its first test will be at ure this weekend!

aussie locker installed, tested at URE and it did magic

next on the list: brake line mod, ZJ V8 tie rod, half doors, throttle body spacer, maybe regearing to 4.10s

Update!

Little update. The half doors are coming along great. Picking up a V8 tierod tomorrow. Also got a gas skid plate and sanded it down and gave it a fresh coat of primer and black paint, plus an old school jeep decal. It was my first try and i think it was alright. hahah who cares

Tomorrow I will slide the skid in there, finish sheet metal work on doors, and hopefull have the V8 tierod equiped :bounce2:

Half doors complete

Just finished all four of my half doors. Had one hell of a time trying to get the original doors off but finally prevailed. Did all the cutting, welding, and bondo. Havent really killed myself on painting them all white yet. That will dome later. But here is one door on. The cuts are really low but thats what I wanted. Eventually there will be some 2x4 DOM steel square tubing right under the pinstripe that runs in the open areas for an arm rest/ohsh*tbar.

Tell me what ya think :)

Very clean.

nice, I wanna sit in that and check out the halfdoor view.
Tony, any time man. It only takes me three minutes to swap doors :wheel:

Finally decided to put my V8 ZJ tierod on. A lot beefier compared to a stock noodle and it was only ten bucks. Put that on without adjusting it thinking i would get lucky but i go a good case of death wobbles and it needed adjusted. Had to adjust it by six turns then it was all set and tight. While I was in there I put in a skid plate that came stock on some XJs. Nothing too fancy, just gives me good protection for the drag link and steering box.

then the skid was next

I hope it does some good

Now that my door situation is settled I got to put my passenger side on. Perfect timing because the added air flow is going to feel great in this winter weather :flipoff2: But the added view is wonderful! So much better than having to squeeze my head and shoulder out that tiny crack in the door. Both sides and need painted.
