93 XJ build

You done yet?

Bahah. Don’t you know I never deliver on promises :D

Overload at work combined with preparing for a birthday party at the house is swamping me. A lot of welding has been done though ;) don’t you worry.

Have you asked how much lift you need on your new suburban to run 35s yet? :flipoff2:

I may or may not have already ordered tow mirrors :D

you hurry up and get the XJ finished and buy a burb and we can hit the trails

Little update. Got the crossmember all wrapped up. Welded all of the links. Cycled the suspension a bit and everything checks out. I think the lower link brackets on the crossmember might be hanging too far down. We will have to see. Have to weld the brackets onto the axle then move onto the back 4 link.

What spring rate are the springs?

200# upper 250# lower

That’s a 111# spring rate so I think I want to aim for a 85# overall. Roughly 150# over 200# would be good I think. I want to get it back on all fours again before I start messing with springs.

Edit: on second thought maybe all I need is to change to upper spring to compress more. I also feel like the load on the front isn’t right yet since the jack stands on the frame are sort of far forward.

Is that crossmember under the rear output yoke?

It’s far enough back so I can get the np205 case off of the underdrive box. I plan to weld this crossmember in permanently. I checked the driveshaft clearance once before and the CV bottomed our before it hit the crossmember.

I plan to mock it up one last time with the 205 in and a driveshaft on to double check. I will need a separate crossmember to support the output shaft of the 205 as well. But that one will be removable.

Jack stands be gone. It’s been an interesting week of work on the jeep. Big push to get this thing back to the garage across the river to my house. AAA towed it on a flatbed. The look on the tow drivers face was pretty good. He rocked.

There is nothing in the jeep so it is sitting pretty high. Mainly in the back but just a touch upfront. Once I put seats, gas tank, and 205 case in I am hoping it drops in the back. Otherwise it will be time to find some new springs.

Got drivetrain on my mind. So I bought the sterling 10.5 rear from a guy that chipped a tooth on one of the spider gears. It is a LSD carrier and for some reason I can’t find any new spider gears out there other then find one in a pick and pull. However I came across this on Insta the other day

A company is prototyping a drop in ratchet locker for the OE LSD carrier. I thought that was pretty cool. Might have to message them about pricing. I was really considering the Yukon auto locker but this looks pretty neat if it saves me a couple hundo.
