Look daddy! Look! Look! Look! You are not looking! C'mon, let's go jump in the trampoline!

Meanwhile I just want to lay on the living room floor for 20 minutes because my neck feels like someone hit it with a sledgehammer from sitting and staring at a computer all day.

I just always assumed that was part of the territory...it's what I signed up for. I made the conscious decision to raw dog to get that. More importantly for me though, the stuff they're excited about, it might be the millionth time you've seen it, but it's one of the first times they're experiencing it. Even if it's the millionth time they've seen it too, they 'chose' me to share it with. Maybe it's just me, but I find something soothing in their excitement, when I get home and my daughter wants to show me her chalk driveway art, she'll light up...I can't remember the last time I got that excited over anything, much less over something as trivial as a new pack of chalk and drawing on concrete. Edit...it gives me the opportunity to live vicariously through them, and enjoy the world through a child's eyes. I'm not sure there are many things more pure.

Nicks kid is great, I walked into his house last Saturday and he runs up and says give me your hands so I do, he proceeds to jump/run/stomp on my junk and belly as he turns a flip. So I can’t even let go of him. Then he wanted to do it over and over and over again

    Thank you.

He is great but every once in a while it's nice to sit down and relax. Having my nuts trampled isn't soothing no matter how much I love them. I regret nothing when it comes to my kids. I know that's not what you're insinuating but I'm just putting that out there for clarification.

Understood...I've gotten my share of nut shots too. I wasn't taking a pot shot either, that's just how I personally rationalize it. Most days I get home I'm mentally mush and want nothing more than to sit in my recliner and be a vegetable until I have to do it again, but I have to keep the wife happy, do things around the house, plus whatever the other businesses need that day. So I use that 'c'mere daddy, look' time as my opportunity to stop and smell the roses...quite literally (but usually they're just dandelions). That 2-3 hours before the girls go to bed IS my wind down. The wife is going on a mission trip at the end of the month for a week and I'm keeping both girls...every time the topic comes up, my oldest looks at me and says 'Party, Party, Party'...it's probably the thing I've looked forward to most in a long time. I don't think I'll ever be one of those people that complains when their kids are home multiple snow days either, so I'm probably just weird.
