So who would get me in trouble if I went and did the trails at ligon mills? I mean is it a cop has to see me? I don't wanna be going there if it's not allowed.

There should be clearly visible signs posted by the state of NC showing that this area is no trespassing.

There are no legal wheeling sites in North Raleigh. PERIOD.

If you do not own it, do not know the owner and have permission to it, or do not pay a state fee to ride on it, you are trespassing.

Legal wheeling in N raleigh

Sure there is.
Didn't you see the pictures of Jrraw's truck the other week:flipoff2:

(ermm, I think that's his username, big chevy, decided to dunk his truck on a boat ramp also, Rich told him to change diff fluid etc)

I got a gravel road less than a mile off of 540 that when if the state doesn't start maintaining might require 4wd:D
Only problem is, the wife's car might have "4wd" and "recovery points" BUT a TT is NOT a wheelable rig. Or at least she repeatedly reminds me.:D

But yea, no legal trails. Ligon, Slater Rd, McCrimmon, Poole Road, Kemp Road, etc all had "places" where if you didn't shoot at small children, drink and cuss out the police, you USUALLY wouldn't get a ticket. They have ALWAYS been illegal. (Some are very very very illegal now, one is about to be very legal, but very easy)(Slater, it's about to be open as 540)

So in NC, unless you own it, know the owner and have WRITTEN permission. You can get your vehicle impounded, fined, etc etc.
As for crazy stories about getting tickets for wheeling, Don't forget they can toss willfull destruction of property, vandalism, littering, (if there is trash there, prove you didn't throw it out), felony fleeing from an officer, (I forget the exact term, but in Va at least they liked this. You got their cruiser or shoes dirty, they are going to make you pay for that)

If you have "verbal" permission, you might get lucky, but the law says you need written permission.

All in all, burn the gas, hit UNF, or the beach, or Tellico, or that weird park in SC, or on some weekends Crozet in Va, or anytime "The meadows" up near Crabtree Falls in va, and a couple of other places up there in George Washington National Forest. (Not where the chains are)

Anyway, enough rambling.

Summary, Don't wheel if you don't own the land.

Could be because there's a lot more of it in Alaska, and lots fewer roads at all, and a lot LESS in Hawaii... with almost all of it roads.
