April 20th 2013 Workday

Also please remember she will need the clubs number of people coming. That way she can get a rough idea of who is going to show and what we might be able to get done. Chris maybe you can take charge of the just NC4x4 guys that are not in any club per say.

Another thing we have been talking about do not forget is the clubs taking charge of their own trails. So that is where I am going to put my focus for the next few workdays along with some of my club.

Oh your coming, just need to make sure your boss hasn't made plans :flipoff2:

LMAO!!! I asked her and she couldn't think of any conflicting plans but, I'm sure she'll think of something! LOL!

Oh, and thanks for your help with getting the winch fixed up!

Yes that is my goal is to have an overflow list for non club peoples and clubs that have more than needed. This first work day maybe a learning curve for me on the idea but feel like it will work great once it gets in place..

Let me know if you want some help. We can chat about it this weekend up there .

I hope I can make the work day but my son is due on the 14th and I am sure my wife will need the help around the house.

Riding some of the mild trails today there are a good amount of bypasses/illegal trails that need to be blocked off on falls dam. Also there are a good amount of areas that need to have drainage ditch dug out.

Yes. That is some of our concerns that can be pretty easily fixed by the clubs. Now as far as tail ditches go, they have a contracter that was supposed to clean those out for us. Wonder if those got done. Might have to look at them myself today while i am up there teaching.

There will be a few people from the triad/greensboro jeep meepup.com group coming. I'll get you numbers by the 13th.

Snappy, this is a weekend I can't be in URE due to running DADFL at the Flats. Please contact me ASAP about future plans so I can help at URE this summer as much as possible. I'm pretty good at getting stuff done, just need to know what's needed of me. Thank you.

Here is a copy of the Email I got from Terry this morning. The ball is now in our court guys. I really need the clubs to step up, walk or ride there trails, and send me a list of items that need to be done with request for how much man power and supplies they will need.

Hi Everyone – I’m sorry I haven’t gotten back to those of you that called me and emailed me before opening day. I was scrambling to get things done before the gates opened and was shorthanded as several of our folks were on the Croatan doing prescribed burns and then I went on Spring Break vacation on March 30th and just got back to the office today.

In general, don’t come up with a schedule of doing work on this specific section of trail yet. We need to do an analysis of several options and nothing will be done on the ground at the Kodak Rock section until we’re finished with the analysis. We do appreciate all of your help through the years and are looking forward to our continued partnership. I will keep you updated as best as I can so that any coordination that is needed can be accomplished in an organized fashion.

Snappy called me today and he told me that you’re all working on the to do lists / punch lists for the different trails everyone has adopted. For the next several work days we’ll be working on these punch lists. I’ll try to coordinate with him to get you the materials you’ll need.

Thanks again everyone and take care. Bye - Terry

I am hearing that saw mill has some massive illegal trails, as well as Daniel. Also alot of silt traps need to be cleaned out on all trails, I have requested a demo on a few to show exactly what they are looking for and hay bails to fix these.

I have started a list but do not have it in front of me at this time but will update soon. If you see anything on the trails we need to adress, snag a pic, and GPS cords if you can. I want to keep a visual record of each day and in between that items get done. I want us to have a record in case we have to battle to keep URE open!! Guys this is our baby(the clubs that sponsor trails please contact me so I can help get info back and fourth which seems to be an issue)....

Snappy, are you running the crew of folks that either have a very low number of members coming or independants?

I am now the go liaison between the forrest service and the clubs, but I am trying to get the info in public view for the non club people so they can help. I want a HUGE punch list so if we have 20 extra people we can get more done than just have 15 people watching 10 work. I am cooking somewhere(double lot more than likely or maybe even at the closure point for RM!) and will have a huge dry earse board with punch lists for each trail, as groups knock out there items, we will wipe them off the board and move on to the next! I hope it will work as easy as I want it to. I am think 10-12 "mini" crews working on alot of little issues since we are at a holding point on Kodak....

Wish you the best of luck Sir. I volunteered for that position last December but was shot down as it was not wanted / needed. Most of us knew that it was needed.

Me and my crew will be working on Wolf Den for the remainder of the work days this year till it is done. My crew being my club I am a member of.

Looking forward go your grub in a few. Missed out this last weekend though.

Thanks for stepping up to this Snappy!!!

When I spoke with Terry a while back, she had mentioned that she wanted the log crossings on Dutch John to be addressed on this work day. Any word on that? We did it a few years ago, and I'm willing to work on it, as Dutch John is 'our' trail. I'm not sure how many of us carolina broncos folks will be there, but I'll do whatever is needed!

So will the non club members be assigned tasks the day of the workday?

This is what i have been trying to figure out, how to include non club people. After talking with a bunch of people we have a few ideas to see what works. There may be a small learning curve but there is a plan!! Show up and we can find a crew to get you with. The clubs that need help will get it if not there will be a list of items that you can grab one and go.

Lets not forget our common areas such as Art Lilley and the parking lots!
