Am I missing something here? What it looks like to me is all of this bullshit and bad image over the cost of 1 AMC 360 head and possibly a new head gasket. The engine is on a stand, replacement would take all of an hour.

So after reading this thread I have 2 comments

No I have not seen the motor in person but based on the photos:

1. I talk to one of the guys I work with about the issue here (he has been rebuilding motors for 35 some odd years) before I told him the story I showed him the photos of the motor oil and he said "That Motor has been ran with water in the oil probly from a cracked head around a coolant passage" after he sayed that I then ask him about condensation getting into the oil by letting a motor sit. he told me that the only way water would get in the oil is if someone pour it in there or a coolant passaged was cracked. water does not just condensate in a put together engine block (water can't get thru steel) and if it did, and was not ran the the oil would sit on top of the water not mix together.

so that being said

I really don't have anything to add here on the wether he handled it wrong or who's at fault.

Just curious here though. Does any other "motor guy" see something odd in this pic.

There is clear water in the bottom of the bottle. That is either condensation or where the water started to seperate again.

The milkshake on the top doesn't occur from sitting on a stand or rolling/transporting/shaking it.

Wether he knew it or not, that motor was running with the oil/water/antifreeze circulating through it.

They both came out looking a little childish, but I might not have been clear enough in that post--I'm definately with studnuts here. This would have been one of those things that I would have dealt with myself--especially after having the engine for two years.

I would like to offer up a formal apology for not reigning in my emotions. I will admit I could have handled this better but like I said things have been rough for me. When I discovered the water about a year and a half ago I didn't raise too big of a stink at the time because I felt that all the parts were good and I could rebuild it. But when I discovered that the head was cracked it sent me over the edge. Again, I apologize for not keeping my temper in check.

first off, I want to acknowledge that both Shane (Scarface) and Jon (Studnuts) both feel bad about the way this thread turned out and neither party intended it to let it get this far out of whack. both guys were very cordial behind the scenes in PM back and forth to me. i also want to commend these fellas for manning up and apoligizing publicly here.

but this reminds me of an ancient chinese proverb, loosely translated as " When the horse dies, GET OFF!"
