Battery powered tire inflators

Been using the Dewalt flavor 18v (labeled as 20v) for a while. Love it for most things. Set and walk away.

BUT after last years beach trip, after 2 hrs and three batteries,
2hrs and Three batteris !:gtfo: no thanks. Were you airing up 4 tires from 10 to 35psi?
Morrflate. Both their 4-way hose kit and their 5.6 CFM compressor. I’m sure it’s Chinese sourced but they’ve had it built to their specs. They sell a 10.6 dual piston compressor but they don’t recommend that for less than two tires at once. Figure I’ll leave the Dewalt behind and just carry the one.
Looks good but they are on back order and the dual piston is about $125 more than I was looking to spend. Maybe if I we aired up after every day.

I'm just looking to top off tires that are leaked down 10-15 psi

I got one like in the amazon link below. You can get a metric-threaded air coupler to replace the one on it with a standard industrial one. Works ok up to 35 psi or so, but slow. Takes absolutely forever to do a 65psi trailer tire. Like 10 minutes a tire. Just had to do that last week, only adding 10-15 psi per tire. And gets way too hot to touch. After doing those 4 trailer tires, I had to put gloves on to pick it up by the handle.

I have a york on my CJ. I need to get that thing running again, just because the york is so much faster. I rarely use the 80 gallon in the shop for anymore, so it's always leaked down to nothing when I do need it.

MV50 super flow.

/thread

My Viair compressor is all right. It doesn't move as much air as the Chinese one, though.

But but but tactical!!! haha.

I've got an MV50 that I love and have put lots of use on, but those bastards get hot! Mounting it in an ammo can would be a sure way to shorten its life expectancy, maybe add a cooling fan or something if that's the case.
I use mine to air up my 37s when the park doesn't have a compressor, and my trick to keeping it cool is to put it on the floor board of the truck with the AC on full floor to cool it down. Added bonus the cab is nice and cold when my sweaty ass jumps in it for the drive home.

If you already have M18 stuff, hard to argue with that route. I've never used one of the Milwaukee ones, so I don't have any experience with that. But I have a Viair 450 in both trucks, and while its nice, its a pain to have to pop the hood and connect the clamps to the battery and string everything out. Plus its big and heavy and takes up a decent amount of cargo space. It was able to take my 2500 tires from 50psi to 75psi in about 4-5 minutes each when I needed it a few weeks ago, but nothing super impressive. I spent another 3-4 minutes unpacking everything, and another 3-4 minutes packing everything back up, so if the M18 unit is simpler to use and faster to deploy, the additional speed of the Viair unit is a wash.

If your DEF tank ever falls off, the cross member makes a nice place to mount a compressor or two. Not that I would know from experience, just something I've heard.....

I have dual viair 444s with a 2 gal tank on my truck. I don't use it on my truck tires too often but do on my trailer tires pretty frequently. It'll take a tire from 50 to 100psi in three or four minutes, and run an air gun to take lug nuts loose. Obviously overkill for recreational use though.

I keep waiting on the m18 inflator to go on a decent sale so I can pick one up.

Did you lose your def in a boating accident with all of your firearms?

I did a quick search and found some super flo compressors look alike but not the name brand one from 2019.

Even 'back in the day" they kept changing names, so no surprise there! The morflate looks similar and some of the vevor ones.

I use a 15# co2 bottle with a preset 120psi regulator. It is 120psi until completely empty and fills quick. I’ve only had to refill once but I use it mostly for air tools like nailers. Should by calculation fill up 37s from 10-35 psi 5 tires on a tank. Costs $15 to refill the regulator was$50 on eBay and a $100 tank

Same brand I got, they come in different ratings, I would go up to 150 from my 120 if I did it again

This or the 2 gal one was what I was originally thinking. Haven't looked yet but does anyone know the amps on a Chevy bed 110V outlet? To me this would be the most versatile.

That will be constantly cycling on trying to pump up tires, it’s really meant for finish carpentry like Brad nailers

It takes about 40 amps to start and 10-15 to run at 110v per a competitors spec that starting amperage could be problematic

OK that's a hard pass. But the Viair and M18 inflator will be continuously running or cycling too.

Yes, but they are designed to be run on 12v not 110. A 1 gallon tank will not provide any noticeable advantage which is the only potential benefit of the tanked unit vs a tankless pump

The 150psi co2 will be your fastest option under $200. Same as a power tank without the proprietary sticker and anodizing. Any weld supply or restaurant distributor will have a tank exchange with a buy in. 15# is common size for small bar/ restaurant keg systems

Ive got this same compressor at the house.
1- Its quiet. damn near silent.
2- Its not pulling anywhere near 40A...hell mine is plugged into a power strip into a gfi and doesnt trip either.
3- Pumping up a truck tire it does run pretty much constant, but took a 35" from flat to 35 psi in under a minute.
4- Did I mention its silent? When I walked back inside my wife asked if I decided not to get the jeep out....the garage to house door was open and she was standing inside in the laundry room.

No ragrets

I got an M12 inflater as a gift a few years back. I figured it would be a joke but carried it because Daniel got for me. Once I started using it was totally impressed! It's done everything I've ever needed it too. I'm sure the M18 would be that much better.

And if you're looking for a good portable the Tsunami MF1050 is awesome, I've carried them for years and they outdid my VIIAR continuous duty easily

From 20 to 65. The Dewalt is only 0.5 CFM. Was a 4-5 beer effort. ;-)

Was considering this but they aren't available. Not sure who is making them i see many copies but question the quality. Pic from your link.

Another vote for the Milwaukee M18 inflator. Was a no brainer for me since I have inadvertently become a red tool fan boy.

I use the inflator all the time for all my vehicles. Saved my a$$ on the side of the road one day with a leaky valve stem. I used to have one of those small compressors with the alligator battery clips and it was good until it wasn’t (it was cheap, it broke, I JB welded it, then the hose cracked and I bought the M18 inflator and haven’t looked back). Now it is no speed demon when I am trying to inflate my 37s from 5 to 30psi, but you set the desired psi, hit start and walk away and come back when you hear it turn off
