To go along with the ‘educate the internet portfolio’ with the 460 that proved they’re not the monsters folks want to make them out to be and the 400 that proved they’re not the boat anchors folks want to make them out to be...next up is an N/A 300 with a stock head...shooting for 1.5hp:1ci to show what it actually takes for some of these innernet claims...

Interested to hear how this one turned out. Been kicking around wtf I want to see out of my 78 4.9L.

Slow row to hoe honestly...bought the parts, short block is assembled. Can’t seem to find the time to work on ‘just for fun builds’. Winter/Spring seem to be our busiest times, so folks can be on the trails and pits during good weather...so probably fall before we have results.

10-4, totally understand that. I'll keep an eye out for it. I'm planning on thowing the EFI twin manifolds, offy intake and carb at mine initially to see how it opens her up then go from there. It'll prob never be the full work over of the truck I'd like to have but hoping just to be a fun-to-drive firewood truck in the not so distant future.

A little pricey, but I’m a big fan of this intake/carb set up for the 300 for most noticeable power increase. But you’re dead on with the efi exh manifold...flows as good or better than most aftermarket headers.

Definitely a bit pricey w/ the dual carb setup! Will keep in mind whenever I decide to jump on this project.
 
Well it’s not the V2.0 I wanted, but it’s whats coming next. For those that don’t remember, I specifically built and dyno’d this engine to shut down the ‘factory 365hp’ and belief a 4bbl combo and cam kit could make any 460 a 500hp fire breather. But I also wanted it to go in my Bronco and be just as at home on the highway as in the mud and be able to drive coast to coast. Fast forward 2.5 years, it’s still sitting in the same corner of my shop. Only been run for break in and half a day dyno tuning. Well we have 2 identical builds in the South shop, one with PI heads, and one with CJ heads. Naturally, I’m going to mimic those builds with my d0ve heads. Primary changes to my build will be pistons, new custom grind cam, corresponding springs and different valve set up. Gonna be interested in seeing how far I can push peak rpm this go round (stuck with a stock style bottom end last time) and what the new power curve will look like (love that flat tq and hp climb). We’ll have a 2 day dyno session some time in the next 6 months, see what difference the ‘Kings of iron heads’ show...we’ll play with different Jomar power cone spacers...and Holley Sniper vs Quick Fuel Brawlers vs Quick Fuel Slayers.
