I think bears in asheville is better than haywood smokehouse. My 2 favs are Haywood Smokehouse, Waynesville NC and Ridgewood BBQ, Bluff City TN. I am not a fan of eastern style BBQ though.

If you’re going to be over this way Friday around lunchtime let me know. Their brisket is my favorite this side of the Mississippi.Damn Shane now I'm wanting end cut brisket
Bear’s is pretty good, Obama ruined 12 Bones for me.I think bears in asheville is better than haywood smokehouse.
Personally I think 12 bones is over rated
Are you talking about A&M BBQ in Mebane?X2 on Haywood. Always hit it when that way. Anytime I come off i85 onto 11 I hit the spotted pig. One thing I miss from my NCSU days was a little whole in the wall past Hillsborough, had great eastern style but don't remember the name (circa 90-94 ish)
Now I want some blue cheese and crackersRidgewood BBQ, Bluff City TN
A&M wasn't eastern style. They did their own unique sauce which I guess would be classified under Lexington style. As someone who loves real bar-b-q (eastern style), I have to say damn near nowhere around Charlotte knows anything about it. Smithfields may legitimately be the best in town, lol.Are you talking about A&M BBQ in Mebane?

Allen and sons BBQ was near Hillsborough. Now closed as well as A&M is closed for good, in Mebane.X2 on Haywood. Always hit it when that way. Anytime I come off i85 onto 11 I hit the spotted pig. But if you really want good Q, just give me some heads up and I can rival anyone in my back yard. Parking sucks but you can piss in the yard and enjoy scenic mountain views fireside. And the occasional impromptu BB gun Olympics (not sanctioned by any governing body) is well worth the free price of admission.
I prefer the wings over their BBQ. They smoke em and double grill, but not cheap, $20 for 10.McKoys in Charlotte is quality
Never heard of Big Mikes. I’ll have to give it a try sometime soon.Skylight Inn or Sam Jones BBQ for eastern whole hog.
Big Mikes in Mills River
Johnny Rays in Fallston isnt the best bbq Ive had, but its good, and his burgers/wings are awesome.

Apple City BBQ in Taylorsville.
Sonny's Barbecue is the best BBQ in the state. Their BBQ pairs great with ketchup.
I had Sam Jones on my list but added the rest. Thanks!Skylight Inn or Sam Jones BBQ for eastern whole hog.
