Betsy's Build

Today I worked on the top side of the driver fender. I also mounted the windshield washer bottle. I am going to relocate the power steering reservoir closer to the pump and I need to find a spot for the evap can.

I started working on the piece of the inner fender that will go on the inside of the shock hoop to cover the engine.

During the day I helped out at the CNC 4x4 Club wrenching day. We worked on several projects that fellow members have meaning to get taken care of- from installing a new brake master cylinder to installing a bar behind the seats for 5-point harness.

Tonight I finished the inner fender on the driver side. Here is a shot from the outside.

And from the inside.

Next will be the passenger side. It should go fairly smoothly since I have templates for the two pieces.

Finished up the passenger side. Went very quickly since I had the templates from the driver side.

I am going to pick up a new camera today so I can stop using my crappy cell phone camera.

You are lucky- I was going to throw them away tonight. I have the templates for the two inner fenders. I think I already got rid of the top piece since I finished those a while ago.

I have been really busy working on the jeep and have not had a chance to update the thread. Here are some pics from the past two weeks.

Removed the front axle for final welding.

Wrapped it to let the welding on the diff cool slowly.

The D60 is at ECGS getting 5.38 gears, ARB locker, shafts, joints, brake lines, etc. Should have it back soon to install it in the jeep for the (hopefully) final time.

I got most of the accessories in the engine compartment mounted.

EVAP Canister- hard to see but it is down low on the driver side firewall.

I also moved the power steering reservoir so it is just a couple of inches away from the pump. The horns have been mounted as well. Need to take more pics.

Tonight I worked on filling in the holes in the frame that I cut for axle/tracbar clearance.

Been busy working on the jeep- not updating my thread. Figured now was a good time- plumber is hooking up the new sink/faucet.

Got the frame boxed in- driver side.

Installed the front turn signals.

Made a wiring harness for the turn signals. Before and after harness.

I got the 45 degree fitting for the steering reservoir and made the tube between the pump and reservoir. Short and straight!

Removed the grill so I could prep it better for paint.

Here is the side of the grill that I filled in. Smoothed out everything with a thin layer of bondo. Ready for paint.

I should get the front axle back from ECGS soon. Then I can measure for brake lines. Need to prep more things for paint now.

It has been way too long since my last post. I have been working on the jeep every available minute I have had. Here are some pics.
I had 15 pieces that had to be painted. My paint booth quickly ran out of room.

John offered to paint all of my pieces in his garage so I took him up on his offer. Over the course of three nights we got everything setup and painted.

Front rock lights mounted. They are in the center. One points forward and one points back towards the front axle.
