It has a striking resemblance to something I've seen before...

Won't be taking a trip throught the ghetto before it's madien voyage though...

I told you you'd like it.

I did find this looking through the few pics I have of your's

Got to lay eyes on it after the race Saturday. Amazing work and design. I can't wait to get it out of the trailer and finish it up. Shooting to have it at RBD over Thanksgiving.

Not ready in time for the race. Delivered it to BJ and crew to finish. It was dark when we loaded it up after working on it all night, so only have pictures on the trailer. Hopefully they can get some better pics.

It 100% meets the rules as they are now and has ample room for growth if they open up. There is an ECORS specific alternate rear suspension configuration that is not in the pics. It has ARBs in each end so we can choose which to lock. I'm even working with PSC on a mechanical steering setup to meet 4500 class rules. This is the most diversified and modifiable rig I've ever built. I can't wait to race it next year.

Jim did an absolutely amazing job building it. If you are having a rig built and you don't at least speak with Jim in the process you are cutting yourself short.

I must have read the rules wrong but how does that engine meet B class?

Engine swaps are legal in B.

From ECORS rule book.

To qualify for Class B, competitors must be able to say "YES" to three of the following scenarios:

No more than two (2) tunable vehicle supporting shocks (air shocks, struts, coilovers, etc.)

Up to 40" diameter tires

No more than 1 locker

No non-factory engine swaps or factory engines with aftermarket turbo, super charger, or blower

ah I see.. so you will have to completely disconnect 1 locker, run a tire smaller then 40" and change of a set of shocks for something else. or hope the rules change to allow more of this stuff :)

Where the frame rail turns to tube there is a coil bucket frenched in. With a few minor changes in coil carrier hardware a coil spring is removed from the shock and placed into this bucket. The coilover is then bolted in place as a non load supporting shock. We call this our revolutionary "coil beside" setup, patent pending of course.

We are really crossing our fingers that the locker rule will go away. Dirt Riot is requiring lockers and we will be racing this in both series. ARB and this suspension setup was our answer to making both possible.

I should have it in the shop tomorrow to finish it up. I will put up some pics as we get it wrapped up. Our plan is to run it in Hot Springs when I meet Jim to pick up my buggy in December.

Engine, trans, tcase mounted

Is that the transmission mount from above right in front of that seat mount tube? If so, that is extremely cool.

This rig is just so impressive. The more I look at it, the more little details I notice. I think this is more impressive than a scratch built tube buggy because of all the little things done to make it work out so well with the stock frame and tub.

Yes it is the tranny mount you see. I mounted the tranny and Atlas support ring like this in my old back half Jeep and really liked it. I've seen tranny cases break from the belly being smacked hard and bending the tubes the tranny is mounted to. Top side mounts eliminate this altogether of you have the space.

Damn...pretty much much makes ya wanna throw rocks at a buggy. Put a tag on it and cruise to work..race on the weekend.

Lmao...well if you haven't seen Jim's buggies you should track one down. His work on my trail buggy made him a sure bet for this little project. His work is kick ass.

Bigwoody's trail buggy was chassis number 1 or 2 if I remember right... and it is scuba certified.

I thought about Greg everytime we raced past that pond at windrock, even told my co-dog about the accident at the stables while we raced past the water.
nothing like flipping a buggy into the drink to get a mans attention.

I would have figured he'd be all over the ECORS scene though.

Where you at Greg?

It was on the back burner for a while but it should be finished this week.

Fired it up to head to get exhaust done and BOOM...tranny case split. Looks like a magical ghost tightened the cooler fitting too tight. A call to Wide Open Design and a new very built tranny and converter are scheduled to deliver tomorrow. I hope to wheel it Friday.
