Going to hit up Choccolocco Mountain park in AL for Veterans Day. Can't beat free admission! Especially since I don't know how the maiden voyage will turn out.
The first trip out turned out to be mostly a success. I had the intentions of just taking it easy and getting to see as much of the park as possible since I had never been there before. After awhile we ended up on some of the harder trails. No mechanical damage, but did suffer some body damage on the driver's door and cab which also took out the driver's window while on Hell's Revenge (fun trail, it kinda reminded me of a narrower version of Lower 2 at Tellico with more trees. Surprisingly enough the door latch and hinges still function normally (except you have to use the inside handle now).
The driver's mirror was also broken so i am going to have to find another one of those before I take it back out on the street again. Its very hard to find any 84-88 body Toyotas in junkyards anymore.
Also decided to try to cut down the bodylift. It didn't look like that much work on paper, but it turned out to be a whole weekend. I was able to cut out 1" of the 3" BL. Anymore would have required a lot more work than it would have been worth.
Had to drop the trans and tcase to do a little hammering on the tunnel.
Still have enough clearance all the way around for movement.
This was the main reason for not going any lower, would have had to cut the sliders off the frame and lower them. At 1" I was able to just bend the pinch seam of the cab a little.
Also had to redo the radiator mount so it would clear the hood. Overall it only cost $15 in new body mount bolts so I guess all the work was worth it, every inch counts right? I will take it where I can get it.
