Carolina Truggies JK Build

No problem dude, so do you ever get to wheel in a truck anymore or just the kawi. We have a couple of guys heading to mountain city July 17-18, you should come up if you can.

Looks good Alex. i would like to swing by and take a look one day when I am down your way.

Honestly, because I don't want to tube the rear half of the frame. I did it on a TJ, it worked great but it's a lot of work and we are working on a budget. The JK frame is much beefier than a TJ frame making it much easier to build a rear bumper/spare tire carrier off of.

It's cage time.
The cage needs to come down through the dash for the driver's convenience. It's pretty easy to go through a TJ's dash but not a JK as you can see. The dash "frame" is aluminum and its all over the place making it difficult for tube placement, not to mention all the cooling ducts, 2 speakers per side and the dash harness.

Thanks! It's what has to happen to build a strong cage in this thing. I've never been a big fan of the cages that use 3/16 and 1/4 and wrap around the dash to the floor, I don't trust them. The cage will actually be rather simple, just clean looking. The hard top gives us limited options due to its 4 mounting points to the cage which should be fun to deal with.......

Looks great. One thing I learned moding the vents is to turn on the blower fan before you put it back together to be sure they don't whistle. We use to modify them form stereo stuff and had one or two sets that whistled and it sucked tearing it all back apart to fix.

Looking good Alex, I will come by early next week to check it out. Ive been working like a mad dog. See ya

where did you get your Solid axles at? tried for three weeks to get a hold of someone. finally a buddy on p4x4 found some info for me. said the company is sold and has new owners. told me they were not taking new orders.

PM "Solid axle" on pirate. They're selling knuckles and diff covers in the vendor section again.

And where are the new cage pics?? It's been two weeks. :flipoff2:

I got the axles from Solid and here's a little info. The original owner sold the company to his employee Matt. Matt was one of the engineers and designed the axles in Solid Works and so on. Matt changed the name to Spintech but he is keeping the Solid name if that makes any sense. The same products are being produced by the same people. The axles are top notch and they are selling diff covers dirt cheap right now. Since I'm a dealer for them I'm selling them for $75 shipped.
Ill post some cage pictures up in the next day or two. We've gone through and tweaked a couple areas throughout the Jeep to prep for the hardtop and a couple other things.

still looking good... see u in ure this weekend?

Sick build man! Cant wait to see more! Someone is dropping some serious coin for this build but the outcome will be worth it. You do good work!
