Carolina Truggies JK Build

Very sweet, first JK with a comp cut that I've seen yet! and that cage is freakin awesome!

Due to the ole leg we couldn't lower the seats as much as we would have liked. The front 4 tubes had to be cut out and new ones welded in roughly 1" higher than the others. That's about the highest we could go without interfering with the hardtop.

I got to see this thing in person a few weeks ago before the axles were even under it and it's top quality. It will most definitely be the baddest thing around. I look forward to seeing it finished.

I've gotta say Alex, this is putting Off Road Evolution to shame man. It really has that Eastern seaboard touch to it. Awesome work man, my hat is off to you. I thought my TJ build was on the extreme side, but it is nowhere near this. Awesome awesome build.

So why the hemi? Why not a cummins?
If we built this Jeep to tow it would have a cummins, other than that I personally think a cummins doesn't belong in a offroad rig due to the weight and lack of wheel spin like Brandon said. Also if you drove this thing with the hemi in it you wouldn't be able to wipe the smile off your face......:D

Thanks for all the kind words guys, Offroad Evolution does a hell of a good job so I take that as a huge complement. They did build one JK that is called "straight to ridiculous" and it is exactly that, but I feel this is more of a east coast more rock friendly rig due to the others lack of up travel.

Ill post some more up once we finish the lower half of the cage and the seat mounts.

looking good...alex check out our new ride...

Do you feel the lack of wheel spin came from having to wait for the turbo to go to full spool?

I would say its more of the lack of RPM in each gear. A cummins could turn 3500 max in first gear, where the hemi could hit 6000, thats a lot more wheel speed in each gear.....

Up travel??? We don't need no stinkin up travel around these parts.

I don't know what the CR cummins will spin, but no stock cummins I've seen has gotten close to 3500 rpm. But you're right, they lust lack the rev range to get the tires going fast.

Hold a 24 valve or a cr to the floor and it will hit 3400-3500. No reason to do it since they start to defuel well before that, but it will do it. I've had 2 24 valves, and 2 common rail trucks and both would turn to 3500.

All the stock 12 valves i have been around called it quits around 2700 or so.

Wow is all i have to say Alex, its looking good. Im gonna have to get down there one day to check it out. That cage got some serious hours in it!!! Take care

This is the start of the seat mounts. We covered up the harness and tucked the tube away to where its out of the way. This should help stabilize the front if he takes a hard hit rolling as well.
