A recent thread got me thinking. How many fans of certain College teams actually went to that school. I am not picking on any school, just wondering.

So did you attend the college you pull for in basketball/football? Did you move here and have to pick an ACC team to fit in? :) Or what makes you pull for a certain team?

I did a little time at Auburn and finished at UNCG.......I follow baseball, I like a sport where anyone on the field can be interviewed (if they speak english), not sound like a total idiot and that ain't the case with basketball or football...quaterbacks are excused.

I have been a Buckeye fan since I started watching college FB 8-10 years ago. I have several family member attended. I myself only went to college to gain enough credits to graduate high school (missed my freshman and Sophmore years do to fun) and it was a tech school. If I was not in the A.F. right now I would love to attend classes but it is difficult with the 500+ mile commute. I start my online college soon through liberty university but some day even if I am 75 years old I want to attend a class at Ohio in columbus. Even if it is a basket weaving course LOL.

EDIT: I was born and raised in Buckeye country also. So I guess I am a Buckeye fan by BIRTH!

I have a cousin who was on the cheer team ans yes he is straight and claims it was the easiest way to meat the cheer girls. Can't blame him.

Grew up in PA and have been a Penn State fan my whole life. Would have went there instead of NC State if out of state tuition wasn't so outrageous. So, I went to the college I root for (NC State) AND root for a team where I didn't go to school (Penn State).

Clemson Alum and played football there as well.

This is a pet peeve of mine on some levels. I spend a fair amount of time on fan boards such as rivals, scout et.al.

And what I have noticed almost universally for every school is the loudest critic, and most obnoxious bashers generally A) never went to the school in question B) tend to post a lot when "their" team is playing. Makes me wonder how big of a fan you are if you never attend a game.

UNC fan all my life, wife got her 3 degrees there and currently is NP/faculty as well.

I went to WCU and follow them and catch a game or so every year.

I grew up watching UNC basketball, so that's who I generally pull for. Nobody in my family attended or anything; it's just the team we went with, I guess. I AM NOT a UNC fanatic. If they lose, like they did last night, I laugh about it.

Voted other: I don't pull for any of them because I'm a big nerd and don't care for watching sports. :flipoff2: I'd play sports though..if I weren't fat.

I have always pulled for Tennessee. Wanted to go to school there but got an athletic scholarship to a smaller division one school, so went where they were gonna pay for it;) Always stayed true to Orange. Was never really a factor because the two rarely met in any competition. I competed against them at some of the larger meets, but there would be 25 schools at one meet. I do attend football, basketball, baseball and softball games in Knoxville as often as can.

Never attended Ohio State for college but I lived 20 years of my life walking distance from the horseshoe, my dad went there for undergrad/law and played basketball there... Been a buckeye fan since before I could speak.
I grew up with the alumni band playing until 2-3 am in my neighbors yard after homegames, I was teargassed at an OSU-Michigan game before I was old enough to drive... College sports fans certainly are a weird bunch.
Skyhi, I see a lot of the same things, the loudest most unruly people are frequently the ones with the least legitimate ties to an institution. Clemson had a pretty good year this year- my grandpa was a prof there about 20 years ago so I have no trouble rooting for the tigers. Only visited once but I remember the campus being pretty.

Grew up on Duke Basketball and Florida Gators Football

UNC/Florida

I didn't go to either school. I've liked both since as long as I can remember. I catch a lot of crap for liking two different college teams. I don't see why it matters.

What's the difference between pulling for a school that you didn't attend and pulling for a pro team you didn't play for?

College>Pro

Been a WVU fan since I can remember. Born and raised in southern WV. Wanted to attend WVU but parents could not afford it so I went to a cheaper Collage close to home.
"Go Mountaineers"

I always pull for Wisconsin. ALL of my family lives there, 2 of my cousins attended or are attending, and I would have went there if there wasnt a question of out of state tuition.

As far as ACC goes, when it comes to basketball, I always pull for Duke. Not sure why...

when it comes to ACC football, its ALL about the U. Had a cousin who went there as well, graduated the year they won the National Championship.

and, when it comes to ALL college football, Roll Tide.

Allways been a odd ball...Huge Georgia TEch fan..(not a good night tonight..Damn orange bowl) Didnt go there..wanted to but out of state = $$$$$

I grew up in a UNC pullin house. Brother turned out to be a duke lover...BLah..

I went to Clemson and pull for them heavily (it can be hard sometimes). Also I pull hard for Davidson since many family members went there.

I HATE USC and pull for whomever they are going against.

Life sucks when youre an NC State fan.

Still gonna pull for them!

I've been a fan since I was in grade school, and living up north, then I went there for the engineering program. I love wolfpack sports, even when they have a bad year, or years

I catch the same crap for pulling for UF and Duke. I can say that I go to about 2 or 3 UF games a year, but didn't go their or duke.

I am not picking on any school, just wondering.

This thread is about the "die hard didn't go there" UNC fans.....don't lie! There's like 2 million of them in Raleigh alone. They would all die for Ramsey though! PS do bandwagons have a full capacity? Can they just cut people off and say "sorry too many homers on this bus."?

Football season & baseball I pull for ECU. Went there and we are the best in the state so its just easy regardless :fuck-you:

I pull for fsu somewhat b/c my girl went/still goes there and I respect Bobby Bowden but after this years crap I won't be.

Basketball I pull for anyone playing Carolina or State

i grew up a carolina fan bc my dad graduated from there.

since ive been going to state my affiliation has changed and i pull for the Pack win or lose. now i love a unc loss just as good as a Pack win.
