Deer Season

I would love to learn how to do this.
To stalk to a deer within 30 feet, dayum you must have red skin blood.
I need the bow down smiley

Wind in your face, COMPLETE camo, only move when you cant see their eyes. I got within 20-25 yrds twice this bow season but couldnt get a shot. If the wind isnt in your face forget about it.

AND some turkeys (<20'),

AND a bobcat (<15')

and some snakes in the swamp that were waaaay too close. All in the same weekend at my farm in Castalia. Me and Aaron from HCORE4x4 went for a little hunting party and we hit the weather just right. Cold for mid Oct and the leaves that were down were wet enough to not make too much noise and we were CREEEEPIN all weekend. All day in the woods, moving every hour or so and sitting in oak stump holes you see alot. Its 150 private, and just me and him there- so it was just a matter of odds. The only noise was the V8 in the Willys! :huggy: Seriously, Ive found that moving slowly and deliberately you just run across things more than you would think. This is some thick shat down there too.

This one walked 30 yds from me at 6:40 this morning. Shot him with a muzzleloader/.357. I think he's the one I missed with my bow a couple of weeks ago.

Damn, it was so windy this morning I passed. Had a 5pt at 10yds yesterday, he was swole up and stinking, hoping he'll make it to next yr. Think I'll throw my junk on and head out now....

The weather next week is looking really crappy... cold and rain/snow for Monday through Weds, at least. I'm excited as hell.

Yeah I will be in balmy Alleghany Co in the morning. only 17 degrees:flipoff2: Should have a light dusting of snow. makes them varmits stand out like a sore thumb.

I am going broke feeding them though. In 5 days 125 lbs corn and an entire 50 gallon trash can of apples. Gone and I dnot have that many turkeys to eat the corn. I mistakenly put a friend in my stand sat evening. He missed my 10pt that is at least 4-5" past his ears. Bastid. His dad shot an 8pt that should go 135-140 that was 265lbs on the hoof. i love mtn deer!

I had a nice 8 pt walk up on me Saturday morning but he smelled me before I got a shot off. I need to work on that a bit. this was on nc Game land

I took a spike in Kentucky (thought it was a doe) two weeks ago.

Not too exciting of a kill, but the shot measured 164 yards and it was taken with my blackpowder rifle. First blackpowder kill for me.

My dad's friend (his land) took a gigantic 8. 18 1/2" inside spread with 9" tines- weighing 230lbs! I have a pic on my cell phone I'll try to upload.

Edit:

I found the picture-

i gut shot a nice one this evening with the bow. im going back tomorrow morning to look for him.

i found out that someone who hunts on the same lease with me shot a 10 point out of MY STAND.:mad:
he had permission though. it still is just like DANGIT.:flipoff2:

Use climbing sticks and take the top one out. Solved my "people in my stand" problem.

Damn meeting. Should have been in the woods HOURS ago

Blasted a doe on saturday. Saw 7 and since it was 13* i wasnt going home empty handed. BIL shot an 8 w/ 18" spread and 9" G2s. There was only a 25 minute time frame when I didnt have deer around me on sat morning.

deer

[/ATTACH]the first pic was on 11-15 08 14 pt ~ 175lb sorry for the bad pic it was raining and they didnt have a digital camera so i took a pic of the film. The second pic was killed this past Saturday 200lb 8pt. Unfortunately I didnt kill either one of them.

Heading to Va to hunt the rest of the week, wish me luck!

yeah I dont know the guy that killed it. I got to the truck when he was driving off to get a pic. He is handicapped and does everything himself Glad to see him get one no matter how big

Shot a doe with the 30-'06; meat kill, first of the year. Next day took one with the .357- finally. Took a grey fox with the '06 and purposely shot him low so the skin looks fine. Have him and the bigger doe flayed out and tacked up inside the woodshed. I have the fox skull to clean and bleach, should look nice on the mantle. I have the bare skull (no meat anymore) in the freezer with the eyes still in- in a clear bag. THAT should be fun for a few screams! Gonna wait for a while to boil it off.
My box stands were locked with somebody elses lock (WTF is up with people???) so I had to shoot them off. Glad I checked the night before. Still took a few shots to hit the dang little things... The willys looks cool with a doe hanging from the tailgate. No bucks to be seen in shooting light. Poachers have them holed up.

Killed my first one of the year yesterday a 109# doe. One shot bang/flop with a lefty Savage 30/06. Looking forward to the hamburger and cubed steaks to come. Trying for another one with a handgun the rest of the week.
