Douchebaggery, Crocs, and other Footwear Thread

Which would you rather do?

  • Wear Crocs

  • Wear Flip Flops

  • Wear Pink Silk Boxers with Bunnies on them

  • Whine about people who warned you your truck was too big for the trails before you bought it

  • Wear man shoes and socks always, even to shower and bed

My flip flops are studded for extra traction. I wear these almost every day with socks too. I wear them to and from work and around the house. When I get off a roof for the day or leave the plant for the day I love kicking off the work boots and slipping these on.

What the hell happened to this thread to make grown men to post pics of their feet?? Lol

I got behind the power wagon a couple of times while on my bike at UNF. Myself and the guy I was with (who knows nothing about wheeling) both looked at each other and shook our heads. His response "what a dumbass". All I have to add…oh wait. Grown men look ridiculous in Crocs! Get some Mandels.Good traction , protect your toes, and other men won't hit on you. Geeks can even wear socks!

I'm surprised Tevas and Chacos haven't come up in here, yet.

That's because a man doesn't have to defend himself wearing those. Tevas (I have no experience with Chacos) are fantastic footwear that stays on the foot, has good traction, and looks pretty damn good as long as you're not wearing socks with them. Put on some rag wool socks and all that goes out the window. I've worn Tevas to hike waterfalls, kayaking, tubing, etc. They work and last a long time. Crocs are too much of a compromise, even ignoring the fact that they make you look like a futuristic Swede in the evolution of wooden clogs. There is nothing that Crocs look good with.

I've been reminded of this:

I will chime in. I wear flip flops every chance I can get in the summer time, I even have 'nice' ones that i wear out to dinner. I think flip flops are generational, my dad has never owned a pair while all of my friends my age wear them all the time. I also wear crocs, especially when I might be getting wet, as they don't absorb water. Yes crocs are hideous, but yes they are comfortable and last a heck of a long time. I guess my footwear choice comes down to comfort; I wear dress clothes every day to work including dress shoes, so once I get home, I am all about comfort.

I even wear my nice flops with a tie and blazer. :)

If I'm not working or cutting the grass, flops are my go to in the summer

What in the magical unicorn hell is that?

I think they replace the little shoe baggie some delivery people put over their shoes to keep from getting your floor muddy or you wear these if you don't want to take a chance on getting your shoes muddy it it rains....they also make a steel toe and spiked sole one.

As an engineer that has to survey construction sites weekly and write deficiency reports, I can appreciate the intent. But as a straight Anglo male I find this dangerously gay as hell. I'll continue to keep a set of duck boots in the trunk!

Hanibal crossed the frozen Alps wearing Jesus boots to go sack Rome...don't think Crocs were in the equation.

I've had Crocs, Tevas, Sperry topsiders, Tom's, Birkenstocks, and flip flops. (I can't do those one strap (typically Addidas or Nike) sandals, they are horribly uncomfortable to me), five toe things are just odd, neoprene shoes are not appropriate unless you are in the water!
Worn out solid (no bling holes or whatever they're called) Crocs are great for mowing the lawn, they are comfy and waterproof and their tread is shallow so the dog poop can't stick in it.
Tevas are great water shoes!
Sperry topsiders are nice but, mine always end up destroyed by odor in short order as they are a close toed leather shoe that isn't regularly worn with socks
Tom's are comfy in a "I'd rather be wearing my slippers but I want to look socially conscious" sort of way
In my skinnier days, I loved my Birkenstocks! Now I'm "more amply proportioned" and they don't have enough give for me
Flip flops (the be tween the toes kind) are a mixed bag for me. Up until a few years ago they annoyed me so badly I could never wear them but now, I have some Reef ones that I wear practically constantly. Any others are annoying though!

Pretty sure Jesus wore flip flops.....:smokin:

..............but he didn't drive..............for God's sake slip off your flip flops, crocks etc. while you're driving, it's dangerous and annoying especially w a clutch :driver::eek:

Anything is better than no protection at all. Broken pinky toe makes the world suck.

Yep, been there, done that. Worse thing is once you break it, I swear that thing then catches every leg of a table from then on because you can't wear shoes that don't hurt.
