After all the blood, sweat, tears, and money that goes into these things..then they are sold and you never see it again. I have had a couple that I wondered what ever happened to them after they were sold - have no idea what the VINs were -don't want them back, just curious more than anything.

Sold my DD of a 1979 CJ7 to a guy near Concord about 3 years ago, (actually traded for a motorcycle) It was a brown renegade, automatic, at the time had 35 MTR's and I saw it for sale down on Hwy 29 about a year after he bought it.

Sold a white 77 Bronco to a guy for his son - think they were from Charlotte - prob 6-7 yrs ago. Fuel injected 302, locked front and rear, and rust holes you could stick your fist through.

Anybody ever run into their old rigs years down the road?

I sold my first jeep a CJ7 to a friend back in '97...he cleaned it up and drove the hell out of it and then sold it...have not seen it since. I then went and bought my TJ...still have it won't ever get rid of it...took my wife to the hospital during labor 2 times and brought both my daughters home in it...2 yrs apart.

My old 'gooner (FSJ Wagoneer), I traded in, and it ended up at a used car dealer. The kind of place that did in-house financing...they'd sell it, get a few payments, repo it, and sell it again... It was on a street I traveled almost every day... Every few months, it was back on the lot, they sold it 4 or 5 times that I know of.

It was only worth maybe $1000 (I wouldn't have given more than that). It's only virtue was that it still looked great, good woodgrain, good paint, good interior. Mechanically, it had 200k on it, engine had a bad knock, etc...they priced it at $4995...everytime it came back on the lot. "Zero down, low payment" written across the windshield.

The guy that bought my CJ7 actually did give me first option to buy it back, as I requested when I sold it to him. But, it was within the same month as buying my TJ to replace it, so that didnt work out. I swear, I think I saw a pic of it on here a couple years ago, but it was in the background of another picture and I just couldnt tell if that was it or not.

It was not my rig, but it was my first car... saw a drunk mexican driving wildly with it one night, yelling at people in spanish and so on, I know it was mine because it had the same yellow stratch on the rear bumper

Sold a black 78 CJ7 with 4" lift,33s,304,3 spd and locked rear to blond girl in Walkertown about 10-12 years ago. I loved that ol Jeep and still wonder about it. Found a 77 CJ7 that I had sold about 8 years ago to a neighbor when I started looking for one for my daughter. I would have baught it back but the frame had rusted out on it. That one kinda ticked me off. I called the # on the sign and the guy starts telling me about all the stuf he has done to it. I had to call BS. The only thing that had changed was someone had put a CD player in it.
Sold my Wagon to a couple from KillDevil Hills about 2 years ago. I would like to see what they have done with it. When they came to pick it up they were driving a wagon with 6" lift and 35s.

I miss my TJ, TERRIBLY! Its still my screensaver. Sold it to a guy on here. I would love to see it again. Can oneof us get a happy ending? Show some pics man!

wish i cold find my old broncoII, it was stolen 6 years ago. Cops found it one time and had me all excited, then they lost it somehow!

sold my M715 about 7 years ago and wish I hadn't. It was to someone up around Hudson area. Nice rig (except for the valve seals leaking and smoking), all original with 16K miles, no rust. Even had the original tires...

Wish I had it back.

Sold my old Honda Accord LXi (285K) to a "Columbian". I still pass him occasionally, still grinning... pass. side headlight *still* frozen in the up position!

Sold my F-250 to a local... saw it 2 weekends ago when he came to grade the backyard/"parking area" for me. Had pulled the front bumper & toolbox and spot painted around the edges of the BLUE bed with the same BURGANDY color as the cab. Still pulled the 7000# loader/trailer like butter...

I sold my F-250 a few years back & had to look @ it everyday @ work.......

I got the chance to buy it back & hope to never sell it again.

I saw my old '71 Camaro SS 350 (high school car) I traded for a Cherokee after I wrecked it.....guy put it back together, but it dog-legged badly.

I hate to sell any of them....but what the hell.

I had to sell my cj5 back in high school. Sold it to a guy that lived around town for a few years then never saw it after that.

Then I got a blazer lifted it & some bfg at's. Had it for a few years then some guy pulled out in front of me and totaled it. Still makes me sick. That thing was cherry.

The wagoneer was parted out and then scrapped at dhgriffen.

I don't think I could ever sell my cj7.

Only one I have sold/traded that would be cool to find out where it ended up, is the Bike I chopped up.

I traded it because I have two herniated discs in lower back and can not ride a rigid anymore

Not a 4x4 rig story...but a story none the less!

True story.

My grand dad passed away in 84. He willed me his 1964 Chevy C-10 Panel Delivery Truck. Straight 6, 3 on the tree. Well my grand mother did not give it to me until I was 14. Our family needed cash and we sold it to a friend on the condition that when I could buy it back..he would sell it to me. Well that did not happen.

FAST FORWARD to me being 28yrs old. I am on my way home from working in a rural county. I pass a car lot I have passed for maybe 4 mos, twice everyday. Out of the corner of my eye I notice a chevy truck. I pull around and take a look. Its after hours, but the owner of the lot comes out. He asks if I am interested. I say, nah...just looking and reminising. I still have not realized its also a Panel Delivery. We walk over and I get chills. He literally asks what wrong. I say if you open the hood and the fire wall is green...consider it sold. His jaw drops. We open the hood and he asks how did you know? I told him the story. It was my grand dads truck. I brought it home the next day.

Mind you I have never driven the truck. I was sureal as I do not remember much of my grand dad.

I sold it not long after that...was in a pinch, but I just have a feeling I'll see that truck again!

I am trading my CJ7 this weekend. I am sure I will be missing it shortly. I am getting a 72 Ford truck with a 347 stroker with about 400 hp. WEEEEEEE!

I sold my xj to a high school kid, last year. He had since sold it to some guy in Raleigh. The new owner showed up at the 4wp grand opening. It was cool to see it still on the road, and basically unchanged from what I had done to it.

A couple of times I thought I found my first YJ. I had an '87 with the 4.2L and had problems with the motor. Was told it was a valve sticking and to put rislone in it. I did and we took it in to trade it on a '95 with a 4 cyl. At the time I was naive and saw a new jeep. After a year and still now I wish I still had that thing. Body was perfect...dad and I repainted in the interior everything that had been wrong when I bought it was perfect when I sold it....even the motor. The rislone worked and when we traded it and the mechanic drove it the problem had worked itself our with the rislone. I've seen quite a few since then and always try to find signs it was mine. A couple of times I thought I'd found it, but never had a vin to make sure.

Its funny I catch myself checking the vehicle for sale section on here and on craigslist secretly hoping I may find my old 86 CJ-7 I had in high school....It wouldnt be smart but I am pretty sure I would buy it back again. At least now I could possibly afford to do it right.
