Failure to deliver titile

Still not calling me back......come on Ron...I need to know something

Dude you want the Title right? Wouldn't it be worth it to make the drive back to his place to see him in person over it? Assuming of course that you both would be civil adults over the manor. I just think that is the best route to go, even if hes not home just wait around for him or check with his neighbors to see if hes out of town..idk.

As mentioned before...
it's time for a letter, sent certified mail. So that you have proof of receipt.Be polite and professional in the language, it does not have to come from a lawyer (yet).

While he aint the safest dude to have around when a truck is on a jack he's pretty smart. :flipoff2: Seems like a good idea on the registered letter.

Maybe you should take advantage of the 2x4 warranty / deal breaker.

All you have to do is wack him over the head hard enough so he does not remember what happened.

people not doing what they say makes them liars

if their is business involved it also makes them a thief.

no title yet damnit

Can you claim it as lost and get a new one?

You know, it is amazing that if RockRash is a member here, he hasn't seen or read or posted on this message to defend himself...

tisk tisk

What city is he from anyone know?

yep

Dude methinks it's time to be a little more aggressive. Formal/ legally traceable contact at least.

Would it be illegal for me to sell the runner as "parts"? If I sold it with a bill of sale indicating that it has no title.

I live 10 min from Da Gas House....sorry Gastonia.
I am dumb also and buy alot of first gen 4Runners and frequently buy on the weekend when the notorys are off work or the tiltle is lost. Most importantly I ask for a bill of sale, bring my pitbull and brother (who raggs me for buying the cheepest POS $runners I can find) and arrange on the bill of sale a time that we can meet at a DMV or local notory.
As for the motor........
As Is, that means you saw the truck and bought what you agreed was or was not a good deal and gave him money. The last 2 good and great running 4Runners w/ 22REs I bought were soon scrap metal. One the timing chain ate through the water jackets and the other had a broken wrist pin. Oh well what do you expect on a 20+year old motor. Head gaskets, bent valves and timing chain guides are the main weak links in these motors.

I have the bill of sale so I tech own it I reckon

Yea man. I got the sammy from ya. never did get to do anything with it due to lack of knowledge, tools, and facility. How are things going with you?

Things are going well, thanks for asking. but let me give you some advice.
You bought the Samurai from me. You paid me some down, then it took you a while before you paid the rest, Ok I accepted that. When you come to pick it up, I discovered I had not yet put it in my name. I told you I would send it off, and you could get it when it come back. Well, you sold it, no tittle, the guy called me and and wanted the title. I told him OK, as long as I heard from you. You called, and all was OK, the guy wanted me to just give him the title. I told him I would meet him at the tag office to get it notarized and sent off. Last I ever heard from him.

Point is, you don't have a very good practice of buying and selling. So in reality, this guy did to you, what you did to to someone else. Sold with no title. I still have the title, in my name. I did what was right, sent it off and got it in my name, which cost me about $60. As a matter of fact, I still have to pay taxes on it. I could send it off for salvage, but I haven't.
Best advice here, is to learn from this, and don't keep making these mistakes.

Sorry about that. My friend cut me a deal on his patfinder shortly after that. The person that I sold it to didn't need a title with them.

fyi, bill of sale (no matter how official) means jack shit in NC. for automobiles anyway.
