I was recently told by a friend that we're going next year. Not invited, not asked, like this is happening and you're going.

Now all I can think about is what I need/want to do to the jeep before I go to make the most of the trip.

That trip is worth every penny spent!! My last trip out there in 2018, I flew out and rented a lifted Rubicon on 37's. It was by far the best way to wheel Moab if time is a constraint. Left on a Friday morning, pick jeep up Friday afternoon, wheeled hard for 6 days and back home Saturday by noon. Can't wait to go back next year!!

I'm guessing jeeps are the only vehicle you can rent. I know you can rent sxs's, but that's not my thing.

This is exactly what we did. Bunch of us from our club went. Couple guys drove, rest of us flew and rented. I split he cost of the Rubicon w/ a buddy and took turns driving. Worth every penny IMO.

It's been 2.5 years now, but then Jeeps and sxs's were the only options. Well, there were ATVs too, But I don't recall any places that specifically advertised Tacoma's or anything.

Yeah, that's kinda what I figured. I'll make it out there one of these years.

I did see a place that was renting range rovers and and some other vehicles, but had now interest in checking them out.

I've done it both ways fly out and rent, also drag your shit across the country and wheel your own. Loved both ways of doing it pro's and cons to both. Rentals are restricted on what you can do and no insurance except on tires and windshield. Pritchet Canyon is no joke! It is beautiful part of the country, Alien looking!
Something about driving what you built plus being able to go where you want. Sadly they closed BFE a month before we got there for infrastructure upgrades.

Still on my bucket list to go again along with KOH.

Moab Distillery has some good Vodka called Class 5 Vodka.

side note: I found if you rent from Twisted Jeeps, explain you are an experienced wheeler, have wheeled Moab before, you can get a green light on most trials you want to do.

That's the biggest question i have with the rentals. What if it breaks down?

If it breaks down it's on them, if you tear it up it's on you.
Our rental AC sucked and no floor mats. We took the rental car floor mats out of the camry to help with the heat. I also bought some harbor freight basic tools.

I loved it. Will be back, hopefully multiple times before I die.

I had NO desire to ever go. Too much time, too far, didn't seem to be worth the effort, and then @Jason W. and @josh$$ kept on and on about how epic it was....yadda yadda. I think they just wore me down by TALKING so much abut it

Jason put together a trip and made it SO easy for me to pull the trigger. I loaded up the Jeep and my 20yr old son and we rolled out

I think it was somewhere along 550 in New mexico when I saw this

when it hit me like a ton of bricks....

That was the most memorable trip of my life.

The place i rented from had a service where they'd come get you/fix it. If the jeep broke down due to, well, usual Jeep failure, no problem. If you broke it doi g sonething stupid, its your cost.

There was no question the one we had had bern put through its paces and was well abused. I reslly dont think the guys working there gave a fuck about the vehicles.

The rig I rented (4 door rubicon) was great! Was a year old, nice and clean. Heat and AC were great. We were allowed to remove doors and top if we wanted. Chose to just remove side and rear windows and flopped front part of top back after it warmed up. The wife really loved the Jeep and trip which I why I have one now..lol the only thing my jeep did not have that I wanted was a winch on the front. Although I did not need it the whole week, it would have help others in a few situations. I can also say i did not carry any tools with me. Call it luck I guess, but never needed any. There were others in our group that had tools if needed. My opinion on Moab is you have to go looking for breakage for the most part. the traction is so good, you can basically crawl everything. That said there and places were a buggy or rock crawler would be necessary.
I would go out every year if I could, hell multiple times if I had the resources!!
Couple throw back pics.

We flew out and rented from Outlaw Jeep rentals. My brother (from Minnesota) drove his Jeep down. The (blue one pictured) rental had restrictions, but was clean, and tracked perfectly at 70. It came with a fridge freezer full of water and ready to go. Great people to deal with. Originally, I tried to get Twisted Jeeps, but they seemed too busy to call me back or even acknowledge that I reserved online. THe traction there is insane! point and shoot! THe only trail that reminded me of home (Tellico) was top of the world. It was close not exact. LOL
We did this as a reunion. After 35 years of absence we all reconnected and this was our first Family meet up. We are now planning to do it somewhere different every year. Glad you guys like the pictures. I havent really been wheeling since Tellico closed and now i have the bug again!

We rode out when @No fries went and it was an epic trip with friends. My rig was running like crap due to a recent motor swap so it stressed me out so much that I did not have a good time for the first couple of days. I did not run some obstacles that I wanted to because of it and I never felt comfortable in my rig because it was idling so high it was unnerving. I want to go back but I'm in no hurry to get there. We ran the hardest trails all week and finished in Pritchett Canyon and that was unbelievable! I kept looking for an Indian in full head dress and war paint on a horse looking at us over the side of the rim at us!:D

Best trip ever!

Great pictures! I lived in Colorado for awhile and would go a couple times a year. Didn’t realize how spoiled I was until I moved 35 hours away.... We went from NC to Moab for EJS and the drive was brutal, but completely worth it. Trying to get back out in the next year or so.

@REDLYNER Thank you. We thought about driving, but it would have taken up too much of our time off. EJS was all booked up so we decided to go earlier. Perfect weather. Cool in the mornings and warm 75ish in the afternoon.

I drove out a few years back. Wife flew into Denver. Picked her up and drove the rest of the way.

We had a blast with great friends and hope to do it again. Next time I want to bring the kids.

We also hit BFE.

I want to fly out w/ my wife & son - rent a Jeep & geek out on the scenery....have to go easy, wife is still a little pissed about riding w/ me popping a wheelie going up a hill (spooled B'co on 35's, drug the bumper) @ URE.

Every one of these pics threads make me want to leave tomorrow!
